It really is worth the investment. Totally different truck, WAY BETTER than stock. Stock was pretty good, but this is like Corvette vs Ferrari.

Yes, you gotta pay to play. Zero regrets. Really, very eager to get this thing to Moab and test it out crawling. There are some things I could crawl on here, but the local yahoos are too hush hush and everything is covered in snow and mud so... Probably not going to get that test till Moab.

But I did order with the additional 2-inches rear suspension travel.

You should just go for it.

Whats that? Meaning the shocks have more travel than "normal" Kings? Or are the springs different too?

Longer shock body for more travel. Keep in mind that Mikekey is an inch higher in the rear so the extended travel is a little more necessary in his case. The rear crossmember will definitely have to be lowered to clear the driveshaft if you go that route. I believe it was Reloaderguy who posted pics of the standard travel and it was more than enough for someone who won’t be jumping the truck, in my opinion.

CRAPOLA!!! We forgot all about that. I have to modify the rear cross member. You just saved my bacon.

It took me exactly 6 weeks to get mine, from the day Don submitted the order to it arriving on my doorstep. Dunno about the 3.0, but they seem to be moving faster than they were before the new year. Some dudes I know spent close to 8 & 10 weeks respectively waiting for their shocks.

did some searching but never found days and days of bent axles like i was told i would find. but my searching isnt done yet. found just a few stories so far but it seemed like most of them were related to the front axles in '13 and older trucks. hmm

What valving did you get Mikekey? I'm finding that valving is everything no matter if you have 2'' or 5'' :-) shocks. I also ordered the piggyback rears.

At stage 5 front mine have SUPER fast rebound. So fast it feels like it's undulating down the highway. But when I hit a huge bump at 70mph across rough ground it just sucks it up. Jumping a truck and not destroying is different than running across rough ground fast.

You have to lower the skid plate crossmember about 1.5". The drive shaft will absolutely hit it if you droop the suspension. Considering how far forward the crossmember is, I think you'd be several inches less than full droop when contact is made. I had the crossmember notched and rewelded so I could raise the crossmember back up.

Unless the geometry turns out real funky on the OE crossmember I’ll be replicating it with a fabricated bolt-in crossmember for dudes who want the longer travel in the rear.

The crossmember's entire purpose is to hold the gas tank and engine skid. I'm not sure I see much need for a fabricated crossmember. Any clearance you gain in the cross member is lost retaining the skid plates. The most clearance you'll lose is clearing the drive shaft and the OE is fairly low profile to begin with.

I will say this now that I have the King 2.5's installed, the coils and front and rear track bars, the truck handles on ramps like a totally different vehicle. Really, I've just been blown away by this whole setup. It's fucking amazeballs.
Stop it. Stop it right now.
MF—shouldn’t have logged on, I was off the sauce for a while now, in the 12th step, now I’m off the wagon again, ordering my long awaited Theuren suspension tomorrow, mf’rs.

How are "amazeballs", anything like incredicok? Anyway, congrats on the new suspension...did you go with Don's rear coils or keep the stock PW coils, I'm really on the fence about the rear coils. I see Don's admonition about his coils turning the rear end into a 1500RAM, but I read your exchange with TankerZak about the true world differences in sag under load is close to only 1". I'm in the order process right now, but still trying to decide if I want to run my stock rear coils or not.

Go see my build thread, I believe I have put that "question" completely to rest. I was hanging out with TankerZak and DamageWagon when we installed my coils.

truth is i dont disagree.

but now,

i can hold them liable for issues, which i dont expect.

honestly ive been boned by a few aftermarket garages in my area with some previous builds... even a jeep specialist, couldnt torque a control arm jam nut over finger tight.anyway, i got quotes and this dealer beat those prices.

i looked for friends with the tools and shop and couldnt find them.

i dont have the stands or jacks, or competence/time to really get it done all alone. wish i did, i did a jeep but not the powerwagon. i even offered every shop i called, to pay 100% of the price and let me work alongside.

the tech who is doing it was more competent then others, and happens to be the only guy they say, is allowed to do suspensions. the fully outfitted jeep in his bay made me feel nice.

ill keep everyone posted.
