I've read good things about the various MasterFlow compressors out there, like the MF-50, and the 1089, which is a jumbo version of the MF-50. They put out a new kit recently w/in the last year called the M240, it's a compressor & accessories built into a .50Cal ammo can:

It's a 2.18cfm, but 50% duty cycle compared to 40% like most others. The Smittybuilt has the highest volume rating at 5.65cfm.

I carry mine in the Ram Box.

Of course, I can't remember off hand if I have the Viair 400 or 300....! Dang, if memory is not the first thing to go... I forget what was!

I used to have a Viair 400c mounted in a .50 Cal ammo can. It also contained a 25'air hose, 15' power cable with 50AMP quick disconnects. This made it nice and portable and fit the RAMBBOX nicely. For Christmas, my wife got me the Viair Heavy Duty OBA Kit (400C, 2.5 gal tank), so I decided to rebuild my old compressor and mount both compressors and air tank in the passenger RAMBOX. While I was at it, I plumbed in my airbags and added an in cab control paddle switch and gauge for the airbags. The two compressors are fast and I like it so far.

I have the Vlair 450P. Haven't had any problems with it, although I only use it occasionally. Fits in the Ram Box.

you could probably fit 5-8 viair 400p in a single rambox...



any portable viair kit will kick ass. you pay more for a faster fill, and durability over extended runs. i love my portable viair kit in a bag, 5 years going strong.

i pretty much want to mimic this setup..

any info you could pass along as to the best way to mount the hardware within the rambox? im not sure what lays beneath the box, and what the best supporting member is.

i want a setup just like yours, dual compressor and tank, tank to OBA fill and deflate system.

air chucks at all four corners mounted near or on frame, utilizing whips to connect each tire individually to the system. front and rear tires separated on different Ys to a multi way valve. you can fill all four at once, and front or rear separately for bias PSI.

I recently picked up the same compressor and will mount it in the same position. Any more details on the mount or wiring? Did you install a switch and relay or just hardwired to the battery?

I'd like to add a switch in the cab and route the quick connect through the grill or bumper. The goal being that I don't have to pop the hood to use it and I have a little extra electrical protection if I decide to do a river crossing.

3rd gen trucks like mine have the grill attached to the hood, so when you open the hood the grill goes with it giving complete access to the core support. The compressor sits on rubber directly on top of the frame to isolate & insulate when it's running to dampen noise. It mounts to the frame with a rubber insulated U-bolt on one end and a rubber insulated bolt on the other end (a three point mount). Because it's completely mounted on rubber, there is a little flex if I yank on it, but it hasn't budged in two years of daily driving. The compressor is mounted to it's own plate on rubber mounts as well, so it's double insulated I would have preferred using two U-bolts, but I didn't have the room for it. It's hardwired to my jumper cable plug-in box which is hardwired to my battery. The compressor has it's own built in circuit breaker and switch.

Do yourself a favor and paint the chrome before you install it, mine has started to get rust spots on the chrome after a couple winters driving in the rain. Other than that it seems to be holding up fine with its minimal exposure to the elements. I'm still very happy with my purchase.

I've been using two Viair units for awhile attached to a wooden base that I cut to perfectly fit into the pocket in the back of my rambox.

I air up both sides at once usually.




Just used a simple Anderson style connector to the battery so it's always ready to go.

I was going to get a Viair 440P but I like the hose that comes with the M240 better. Plus it is $70 cheaper. I thought about the Smittybuilt 2781 but I'm suspicious of its flow rating. In real world tests is is slower than the ARB CKMP.

So I settled on the M240. I'll do a test when I get it to see how long it takes to go from 30psi to 60psi.

Ya, they are more meant for heavy duty applications. You can run a 3/4” air impact all day if you want. I use it for changing edges on dozers and loaders in the field. Doesn’t miss a beat

I got my Air Armor M240 air compressor.



I ended up not liking the air hose chuck that came with the compressor and replaced the hose and chuck.




It does fit nicely in the RAM Box.



I did a quick test and it took about 3' 30" to go from 45 psi to 60 psi on stock 33" tire. The compressor got warm but cooled off quickly.
