Checking In

Post by fbenross » Thu Mar 08, 2018 1:25 pm

I had better check in before some of the old timers think I’m a pile of bones in the Owyhee Desert. I just spent my first year retired and went over 39k miles on my PW/RV. It is a Dinosaur and will be 12 in April. All but 2000 of those miles with a Ton of popup camper and gear on the back. I took the camper off for this winter and it’s like having a new truck. The tires are chirpy when shifting that 6 spd, and it rides like a Buckboard. The wife was following me the other day and later she said “you have the biggest truck on the road” so I took her out to dinner…out smarted by her again!
I’m surprised I still have the stock F brakes, but it is pulling to the right slightly under braking now. All is still working well with the stock 06…lockers, sway bar, and winch still working fine. I am on my 3rd P.S. pump, both changed in the field by this old man. I finally got around to doing the recall on the air bags and clutch lockout switch/spring, and after 12 years outside by the ocean, there is no serious rust yet. No Snorkel has been needed yet, but I have dared to get the Smart Bar electrics wet twice  …I still love banging the gears in the old girl, and I did notice the guy checking it out in the Safeway parking lot. She is one good looking, scratched up girl but every scratch was worth it.
The Camper will be going back on this May for a D.V. trip, retirement has been a whirlwind, I find myself spending less time on line and more time doing home, yard, and vehicle projects. I feel a bit left behind on the forum with an old 3G, but there is a price to pay for having the best Gen PW. I Hope all are well. Ben

Well, it's about time. My '05 is still the best truck I have ever owned, and I plan to keep it for as long as I am able to drive. Also retired, and too damned busy to enjoy life.
