Before there was RamBox

Post by OffroadTreks » Sun Feb 11, 2018 1:34 pm

Before RamBoxes there was the Dodge Activgate Cargo Management system (still using this name) for 3rd Gens. You can really see from these photos, how this evolved into what we see on the 4th gens. Pretty cool.

I'd rather have that than the Ram Box.

I looked at that before I bought the Ram tool box on the slider rails. I can move the tool box front to rear on the rails. One problem with it. If you have to much weight in the box. It's a bear to move.

I got one of the last sets of rock rails that was made. They only made them for 3 years. The dealer who installed them. Said that they will never install them again because of how heavy they are and the time it took.

I remember those cargo boxes they were a good idea but I never saw a truck that had them.

I love my mopar "rock rails" as they were called, but people didn't want to buy them until they stopped making them then, all of a sudden, they were in high demand!

I remember how many on DodgeTalk wanted them, and tried to find them. People was calling dealers to see if they had any tucked away in a corner, or in an attic.

Like most of Ram's stuff, they probably never properly advertised it. Ram does a terrible job at marketing themselves. Look how little dealers know about the Power Wagon or average people for that matter. Compared to how Ford markets the Raptor as the KING OF THE HILL.

That does sorta look like a nice setup for a cap. Although you still gotta crawl in there. but paired with some DIY drawers and a sleeping platform, be a nice setup for camping.

This was the first time I’ve seen an ActivGate in person. I would definitely buy one if they were still available
