2019 1500 Info Release
Detroit Auto show is on, and the last Manufacturer to update of course is Ram. http://www.tfltruck.com/2018/01/new-201 ... now-video/
Watched the Chevy Roll out as well. Of course Nissan( did nothing) and Ford happened already. And Toyota never changes. My impressions is Ram did make some of the most novel changes. Chevy was just attempting to catch up, nothing more. Ford and Ram have gone much, much further. At this point for Ram some was catch as well such as Dampened tail gate, rear steps, Panorama sunroof, auto pilot features...However the new 2x size Uconnect, Hybrid System and assorted improvements are pretty cool. I like how they used Hammers to design the Interior while Chevy used the House Wives of Beverly Hills
Next year 2500 and PW!

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I like it. I miss some of the toughness in the Laramie and more basic trims, but the Rebel looks better for sure (the 4th gen looks disproportionate to me). There's a murdered out Laramie on Motor Trends site, and it looks sexy AF with what look like the old SRT-10 style 22's.
It's not my kind of truck, but it looks awesome for the street machine that it is.
I'm hoping they split the design of the HD's more, like Ford does with the Super Duty (totally different design than the F150). I'm not sure how I'd feel about that 1500 face with a set of cab lights and tow mirrors on it. I think it'd look like Justin Bieber when he tries to look tough/rugged... we get it Justin, you still can't grow facial hair, now take off the Dickies and stick to your usual $500 sweats.

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I read an article stating the off road package that is currently available on HD's will be available on most 1500 trims, and the anti-slip differential was being upgraded to an electronic locker.

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I'm really impressed. The spy shots and early photos, where MHEM. At best. But seeing the Rebel and the interior. WOW. Then reading the details. 2 inch lift, 33's, rear locker and hill descent control. Those are the things I've been saying they need to add to the Rebel to make it serious. Looks like they are really positioning this as a serious offroad half ton. Really really nice.
I love the interior too. The refinements are enough to make me consider an upgrade. Hell, I am very excited to see what the 2020 HD's and the Power Wagon will offer.
I think FCA did a great job with the next version. I'm optimistic about the 2020 now. I might even have to consider an upgrade. Nothing really appealing in the 2017/2018 to move from my 2015. But if the trend continues for the HD.....

This. Factory lifted Cummins with a rear locker will make for a much harder decision.MikeKey wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 7:02 pmI'm really impressed. The spy shots and early photos, where MHEM. At best. Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
Certainly a nice upgrade from the current 1500, which is a bit dated. The 130hp belt drive "mild hybrid" should make heavier loads a little easier to getting rolling for those that tow and the 12in touchscreen should be great.
Selling these is what I do for a living so hopefully they don't get too insane on price and lease program but overall, a welcome change

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I’m really interested in that electric assist motor. This is exactly why they mandated KERS in Formula1 racing.
The heated/cooled rear diff sounds sweet as well. They’re really putting some tech in these trucks. Pano sunroof, moving air dam, optional power folding steps. Gettin all fancy haha

Here comes the 48 volt electrical system.
All I want is a simple truck with simple up-grades. Not some rolling tech mobile.

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I'm not signing up for either the Chevy or Ram with that new tech. Chevy has MDS on crack... 1 cylinder to 8 depending on load... Not touching that. And a generator for an alternator and 48v on the Ram? Sounds great but I'll give em 2-3 years to work out the kinks. Already got burned on a first year in 2011. Learned my lesson. I don't mind the body refreshes but when they overhaul the power train i don't want to be the guinea pig.

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I am! With the new tech. You better buy the extended warranty. Leave your sunroof open. Have some rain dripped down on your touch screen. That's over $7,000 to replace. Cost me $1,400 to replace the sunroof control on my '13 GC last summer. Was 900 miles over the 60,000 mile warranty. Wait until you start to update the Nav system. That's $149.00 per update. And you can't get the LifeTime up dates either. You have to do it yourself. The instructions are not clear on some of it. The first time I did it. Lost all of mine addresses. The last time wiped my screen clean. Locking it up.

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
The more stuff you have. The more it owns you. I'm slowly de-teching myself. I don't want this high tech bull shit to run my life. I don't need it. Not on facebook. twitter or anything like that. Don't need to be self glorified on the net. Making oneself feel important. To me. It's more important to able to read a map and compass, then to look at a gps for directions. To read distance using the MIL Dot when looking through a scope.FordyceCreekTrail wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 9:47 pmGuess you will be buying used 1970's trucks from now on

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
I was a master tech for Nissan for many years, I remember a couple years back this new Altima came in that would intermittently shutdown the engine while driving. After a hell of a diagnostic headache it turned out the passengers vanity mirror/light wiring was nicked by one of the screws that held the sun visor on and would ground out if you hit a bump just right. That damn mirror light was operated by the body control module which had a canbus signal from the engine routed through it that would cause the shutdown. Shit is only going to get more difficult to deal with. It’s absolutely a double edged sword

Re: 2019 1500 Info Release
So RAM did bring some of the ideas from the TRX Concept over to the 2019 Rebel. Specifically the Hood.04Ram2500Hemi wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 10:30 amThe 2018 Power Wagon and the 2019 Rebel do share some similarities on the exterior.
I would still really like to see the high clearance bumper added to the 2020 power Wagon. Considering they switched to LED fogs or a narrow shape, it seems possible in the HD variant. It really doesn't make sense to me, to keep denying the Power Wagon.
Since they added a Rear Locker though to the Rebel, I am hoping this means their plan for the offroad segment is similar how GM has already treated the Camaro and the Corvette.
The Camaro was always the "cheaper than the Corvette, same motor but detuned, and a bit heavier" And then the Corvette was the star.
I'm hoping FCA will be treating the Rebel as the entry offroader and the Power Wagon as their Flagship off-road performer.

Anything that requires a cell or wi-fi connection is useless to me as my truck lives in the middle of the NRQZ. So there's no sense of me paying for that giant brick that lives on the dash. Can't remember the last time that I looked at a GPS other than backpacking.
Sirius radio isn't affected though.

I like it well enough I guess. My major gripe is I absolutely hate the tire tread and special vehicle embroidery seats. I disliked it in the current model years and the next gen is going to be just as bad. If I were buying a new PW or Rebel i'd reupholster the seats. The rest remains to be seen, I'm not a 1/2 ton buyer so I will wait to pass judgement until the HD comes out.

I feel the same way about the seats. If I bought a new Power Wagon today I'd have to look at the leather interior.
