Haha I know, it just looks so huge. It probably doubles as a snow plow in winter though I'll probably need to do quite a it of work to pay for the fuel haha

Yeah, mine took the exact same amount of time. Make sure you double check and snug the fitting from the reservoir hose to the shock body before mounting them.

Diesel PW Build Thread

Post by Rodeoflyer » Sat Sep 23, 2017 7:53 pm

Whoa you got install documentation? Must be for the towers and boogies cause I got nada for the 4 gen. Understandable because it's easy lol.

Be sure to check those fittings and make sure they're snug.

You're def going to love them just give them a few days to settle and break in. They will feel and respond like an atv or moto shock with the progressive valving. Something that was new to me but every day they're feeling better. With the stage 5 valving mine are soaking up some crazy shit when pushed but at slow speeds they're as tame as the stock bilsteins. I feel like I could jump the truck and it would soak it up

Fittings were all good. I started the install late. But got it done. Different. Worse and better. On washboard going slow the tires just bounce like crazy throwing the truck around. But once at speed it's better. Some holes and bumps feel the same. Others feel better. Holes feel weird but bumps are smoother. Hopefully there is a break in. Should be good to go! If I can I'm going to make the seat brackets and work on that. And install the boogie bumps. Maybe. I've never hit my bump stops before so wondering if it's really needed for my driving. Might save them for the next project. Looking forward to the seats!

What stage did you go with? Mine are getting better and needed 'break in'. I've also swapped from the .5'' to the 1.5'' lift springs in the front and they really came into their own. The way they're valved they work better with softer springs, long travel and faster stroke. Completely opposite of the digressive valved bilsteins. I'm also pin top style so....

They are stage 2. They very much let the axle move. Just noticing more issue in the rear than the front.

Heres some install pics. Coated the bodies in a truck bedliner coating to get theough this winter. Will pull them out next winter and see how the fluid is. Clean them up and put on either 3m wrap or do a bake on coating. Big difference between the 7100s. But look how pretty those 7100s are. After being customized and redesigned and rebuilt. Talk about shaft size lol. Towers had clearance which was nice. Damage wagon had me worried with his install pictures that I had a lot more screwing around to do. But it all went well. And I managed to keep the resivor hidden.

Yeah those 7/8 shafts are beefy. A Canadian farm truck has to be the ultimate durability test lol.
