Hypertech

Post by Z's2016PW » Thu Jul 13, 2017 8:46 pm

Okay, I just received my Hypertech speedometer calibrator. Install was extremely easy. Haven't had a chance to verify the speedo yet, but I will within the next couple of days. The nice thing about this piece of equipment is if Hypertech ever comes out with a tune for our engine it can be upgraded to the max energy. Before I forget the part number for our trucks is 752501.

Had a chance to drive the Wagon today. It feels like stock again. Throttle response is normal and so is the downhill speed holding. Transmission seems to be shifting smoother. Overall I would say that this is a very worthwhile mod. I don't think it matters which brand of tuner you go with just do it!

It definitely helps with drivability for sure. A good test to see if it's dialed-in correctly is to get a free GPS Speedometer app on your phone, take a drive and compare it to you truck at a steady 65 MPH it should be within 1 MPH I actually had to adjust mine a couple times to get is to match.

Are these a one shot per VIN deal or could I buy a used one? Ebay has some for $50 occasionally.

I did not have to put the vin in so it is possible that you could buy a used one for your wagon.

The other nice thing about this calibrator is that it will read and clear dtc's.

I believe it automatically reads the VIN from computer during the first use and locks it, but I have never tested it.

These do vin lock. You can switch vehicles, but do have to pull the settings back out and out back to stock.
