A bone stock ZL1 will run even with a Hellcat plus it comes with one of the best chassis available in a car under $150K. To say I am not a Camaroo fan is an understatement but GM is absolutely killing it with the ZL1. The Demon has a trans brake and deleted interior...that's cool I guess.

Is Hennessey including the car's hood with his new builds now>?

I never in a hundred years, would have though I would live to see auto Mfg come out with vehicles approaching 1000 hp. Mind blowing to me.

Pretty impressive #s on the reveal.
840 hp - 770 lb/ft

0-100 - 5.1 seconds

Launches with 1.8g of force :excited:
Claiming fastest production car ever
Going to be a hell of a car, and I for one love that Dodge is give the muscle cars a last hurrah before the tree huggers shut all them down. Were on top of the horsepower wars with the Hellcat now just topped themselves with the Demon.

I also like that they are promoting this car as a no holds barred straight line strip car, and are unapologetic about it!

I know which motor is going on the Wagon after the cam kicks the bucket. Might need to build the trans a little.

It looks like "power level 3" (the 1023 figure) is only rumor at this point. I still can't believe an OEM is producing a fricken 9 second car with a warranty. That's crazyness.

What other manufacturer can claim that their cars were banned from NASCAR (Plymouth Superbird & Dodge Daytona) and the NHRA (The new Dodge Demon) ? I think that is a pretty awesome title to have. :notworthy:

Hennessey's & Lingenfelter's are nice, no doubt, but they are not factory.

Why is it banned? Too much power from something that any Joe Schmoe can buy? Are they worried that bad drivers are going to be taking them to the strip?

Someone from FCA said it will be under 6 figures. But then the dealers WILL mark them up. Only 3,000 made. You know how much this car with be worth in 20 years? :jawdrop:

It's not "banned", it's just in the category of faster than 9.99 and 135mph in the 1/4 which calls for a NHRA Certification to drive it on a dragstrip. And the roll cage, supposed to have one as well but I can vouch that the challenger is built pretty damn tough.

Most production vehicles are not required to have things like rollbars and safety harnesses if running under 11.99-11.49 depending on whether IHRA or NHRA. I'm assuming because no production cars run faster than 9.99, NHRA drew the line with this car. What would be interesting to know is if IHRA is drawing the same line???

In all honesty, when your talking the speed & hp of that car, what would another $2000 be for a factory roll cage ? I think it should have one from the factory.

The factory won't install one because of safety issues for the street. The air bags won't work correctly with a roll bar. If you get into a wreck on the street. Your head bounces off of the roll bar. A lot of guys who do install a 4 point or 6 point roll bar drive the cars less on the street then on the track. A helmet becomes a must item. It's a BIG decision for guys who track and drive their cars on the street.
