Re: MOAB 2017 - May 1-7
Hey all, Bran new to the Registry. I am trying to read through this entire thread but is probably going to take a while but I want to be up to speed with the plans for the Moab trip as I plan to attend. I have already registered online. So please add me to your list of attendees.
Any who My name is Mike Daniels, I'm from Salt Lake city UT, I have owned my PW since 2014 and have modified quite a bit and almost have it where I want it. This truck has been my first ever real off road truck, I was heavily involved with the Subaru community for years prior to this. But I work with a bunch of jeep guys and am very excited to get my feet wet down in Moab Next month.
Even though my off road experience is slim, I am no stranger to being behind the wheel of a purpose built machine. As I am an Open wheel Sprint Car and Midget racers. I race all over the Western Untied States and have multiple championships to my name. I also have 10+ years of motocross racing in my portfolio.
I do out side sale for Rush truck Centers and I have quite a few off road and performance shops as my top customers, so I very familiar with industry and have knowledge and access to just about anything you could possibly need, for automotive, Heavy duty, Light duty, off road and Military applications.
I am very excited to get to know you all better and to get the chance to attend them is Moab Meet next month. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. I have a few guys from work as well as a couple customers that are Moab Regulars that will be tagging along as long as that is expectable by the group as they will be non PW guys. "although they all wish they were, and I think a few might pull the trigger after watching us wheel"

Re: MOAB 2017 - May 1-7
Ok, I think it was you that I passed by in the Salt lake area. I'm in West Valley, and one of my buddies just moved out to White City. I'm from New Jersey, still here at the moment getting some things to bring back. I should be back in town this weekend. Oh, and welcome!

And of course, the "printable area" box won't be on the final product.

Re: MOAB 2017 - May 1-7
Welcome Mike! Glad you can join in man! Local too, lucky you haha.
I think the group should be asked before we have a group of non PW guys join in with us. I know most groups are cool with that, FJ Summit etc., but personally I am against it for this group. Just my opinion, but I think most of the guys going this year are on the forum and we can size up their characters and (lack of) sanity. We have a lot of vehicles going as it is... Spotting times are going to be horrific.
Just my opinion and I'll be happy with whatever happens

Last year we had one tag along on one day. We've gone to a lot of trouble organizing this event as an event for Power Wagon Owners who registered and signed up. We have over 20 confirmed rigs.DamageWagon wrote:Welcome Mike! Glad you can join in man! Local too, lucky you haha.

We'd prefer to not have randoms showing up and expecting things of the organizers or group. The organizers and volunteers are helping to spot for Power Wagon owners and this group. We're not going to be providing comms, or managing other people who just tagged along.
I'm sorry. Feel free to coordinate on your own, however. But you will be asked to stay in the back of the group and out of all filming and principle photography.

Re: MOAB 2017 - May 1-7
Hey no worries Guys I completely understand, and do not want to interfere at all with the PW guys as this is your trip, I will work out a schedule to wheel with guys from work. I will be down April 30th - May 3rd so I'm most likely planning to run with all of you guys on Monday and Tuesday, and will plan to do something Sunday with them. and will likely be bringing down the dirt bikes and doing a ride Wednesday before I head home.
I really wish I could stay all weekend but my first Midget race of the year is the 6th and I need to be back a couple days before to get everything ready.

It'll cost you $25 per shirt now to get them on time for PWinMoab. Course, if someone had actually registered for the event and shared their email, you would have gotten timely email updates about the t-shirt order.

22 PEOPLE CONFIRMED
Although we will have up and down days on the number of people. Friday will have the most people, with a strong turn out on Sat, Sun, Thursday and Wednesday in that order. Monday and Tuesday have the least number at around 11 trucks. There are 4 people who I know are coming who never gave us any details LIKE YOU PITSLAVE I'm just assuming you'll be there all week.
Still, looking back thru all the past events. This year is going to be great. Poor 3rd gens are under-represented this year with only 3 people.

Super excited to join this group in Moab!
Thinking about tent camping in the rv park that has a hot tub and showers!
I am prob the guy with the least amount of 4x4 experience. Looking forward to learning from the group!

Does anyone have a front bumper I can borrow in Moab? It would be very beneficial to not have the massive bull bar eating up half of my approach angle. This is a serious question, I'll give it back to you when we leave.
Edit: a damaged bumper is even better. Must fit a 4th gen.

Just power up everything. That's why you have that massive tank armor.

(on Friday, once I've built it, shouldn't take but a couple hours) I'll post pics of my thrown together recovery points and skid made from scrap metal, maybe that'll give you an idea for something you can throw together over the last prep weekend!DamageWagon wrote:Does anyone have a front bumper I can borrow in Moab?
