Retired

Post by fbenross » Sun Mar 19, 2017 1:08 am

I can't believe that after all these years I finally made it to retirement. Friday was my last work day. I am so fricken happy...every day is a Saturday. Time to start adding to the 39000 mi on the PW. :D I got a new toy too - A $1500.00 flying camera (quad copter) should be fun on trips to Nevada.

Welcome to retirement Ben! :excited: Now all of those projects around the house you have been putting off. You will now start on. I have less free time now, then before I retired. :( Thinking on going back to work so that I have free time. :o Since I've been retired. I've remodeled the kitchen, installed a retaining wall in the back yard, and now remodeling the basement and garage. After that, planning on new shed in back yard, and remodel both bathrooms. Hopefully your "want to do list, need to do list" isn't like mine. So......what do you have plan with your free time now? I'm happy for you!

That's awesome. My dad retired so 10 or so years ago and couldn't be happier. He get's up, walks the dog, eats and reads the paper, then takes a nap. Does what he wants when he wants.

Enjoy!

Enjoy - But keep busy - That is the ticket for a long lasting life in retirement!

My dad has been retired for 30 years. Every day he is out and about working on projects that he mostly enjoys. :D
Most of his coworkers retired and kicked back as couch potatoes - and then passed away within 5-10 years.

Pretty much what your doing...tons of deferred house projects I want to get done before I'm an old man. In my head I feel like a youngster cutting school. But some times the body reminds me I'm not. I've got a bunch of new F. end parts for the PW and that new winch and bumper for the Scout too. :D

Personally, I have never been more broke, now that I have retired but have never been happier either. Since I graduated high school in 1981, I have never had weekends or holidays off. Not in the Army & not in Corrections. When someone asks me to go somewhere or we have a snow storm coming, I look at the wife & say---whew---good thing I'm off that day ! She has less than 20 working days left herself, then retirement for her too. Then we can try to save some money to travel. Soooo looking forward to that !
