Have around 6000 miles on the tires. :D

Took my cheap tread depth gauge out and measured the unused spare... Tread depth measures as 17/32", so the gauge may be off about 1/32" (or I'm not pushing against the rubber hard enough with the probe :D ).

So averaging the remaining depth of my 4 tires = 15.5/32". Then the Duratracs are getting 6000 miles per 1.5/32" or 4000 miles per 1/32" of tread wear. I will probably replace the tires when they have only 1/4" of tread left which is 8/32". 18/32"-8/32"=10/32" of useable tread wear. Said another way, I have used 1.5/10 = 15% of the useable tread since 2014. At the current rate, these tires will last me another 10 years :D I suppose I could let some air out of the tires and wear them out faster.

Was looking online at the Toyo Open Country R/T specs. I noticed they offer a 37x12.50R17 and even though they are a D rated tire they have a higher load/speed rating and max load then the E rated 35x12.50R17. Would going 37x12.5 instead of 37x13.5 alleviate most of the rubbing on stock wheels and suspension or is the diameter more the root cause of the rubbing? I have a 2016 PW. I would like to go with 37s but I plan to tow a smaller camping trailer and don't want to have to deal with a lot of rubbing. I'm also considering the 17x8.5 Rock Monster wheels in the future with 5.28" of backspacing (~+10mm offset).

I don't have the experience with the larger tire diameter tires to answer your rubbing question, but if you are doing any amount of trailer towing, smaller tire diameters are better. This is especially true with the 4.5 gen trucks with the 4:10 differentials. Unfortunately, the tire load range letter is a misnomer, it is defined more based on the tire construction - especially the sidewall, and not the amount of load that a tire can carry. Use the tire max load capicity as a better indicator for load performance and tire construction.

Regarding wheels, the higher load ratings also indicate a better construction or design...

Thanks. Even the max load rating on the 37x12.50 is higher then the E rated 35x12.50, 3,525lbs to 3,195lbs. I'm just curious how much of the rubbing people get with 37x13.50s on OEM wheels would be alleviated/reduced by the 12.5" width or is it more a function of diameter and the width won't really make a difference.

Now the gearing and towing aspect with the 4.10 gears is a legit concern. I'm talking about a pop-up style camping trailer though. Maybe 350lb tongue weight max and 4-5k lbs loaded max. Probably less. That's for the largest model which I'm not sure I would get.

If you're not towing that often; I wouldn't worry about it. Particularly with a little trailer like that.

If on the other hand, you tow a lot, and you haul all over the country, you'd better think about 35's only. That's pretty much why I'm with them.

When I move up to 37's I plan to regear the truck to 4:30's based on some feedback from another Ram owner on AAV.

hammerballs.... I have Ridge Grapplers 37 x 12.50 on my 2016 Tradesman. I ran them with stock front end for a while, I now have Thuren 1.5" kit on front . They didnt rub in normal driving for me, only at full lock, on stock rims. Not sure about other brands, I know a few guys on here have the Toyo RT`s. I have read that the 13.5 width is whole different ball game.

Thanks! Good to know. With the Thuren 1.5" front lift do you still rub at full lock? The Rock Monster wheels I'm interested in have +10mm of offset giving them 5.28" of backspacing on an 8.5" wheel width. The stock wheels are 6" backspacing on 8" width so the Rock Monsters will push the wheel out a little bit. With the 37x12.50 I wonder if it will still rub on the radius arms or pinch weld. Those mods are a bit off. I have to wear out these stock tires first.

Yeah, any lift or level kit will not change the wheel/tire offset/backspace, that is what makes the tire rub the Radius arms, and also plays into the pinch welds, ect. With that offset you are moving the wheel/tire out from stock so it will have more issues at the pinch weld , the sweep of the tire when turning lock to lock is pulled out from within the wheel well.

Thuren has some good info on his site about wheel offset, also a company called CJC off road does a lot of the Ram lifts/levels, they are primarily Diesel guys, but they have a lot of good info in their Instagram and FB posts, answering questions from people on wheels and BS

Yeah I'm familiar with Thuren and CJC. Thuren recommends +18-25mm offset but those wheels are hard to find. Haven't found any I like yet. I also wanted to go with DOT approved beadlocks making it damn near impossible. Too bad the PWs weren't designed around a more common wheel geometry.

Finally wore the Nitto Trail Grap MT's out and went back to my favorite tire the Toyo MT... Not many miles yet but already loving them... I know some guys love the Nittos but I did not have good luck with them at all... They wore out in about 20K miles and, to me, rode like crap... Still playing with pressures on the Toyo's but much smoother already... Happy Wagon owner!

Anyone running 37x13.5 can you post pics? I'm comfortable with what needs to be done to get 37x12.5s to fit but what about the x13.5s? Will they fit?

The 13.5's are actually 14.2" wide. They are HUGE. It's what all of the dodge go-fast guys run, so yes absolutely they fit. You need wheels with the correct offset (call Aaron at Thuren for those numbers). You will need to trim the pinch weld under the cab I believe. If you have radius arms then that's that, but if you are a 4-link truck you will really want high clearance control arms to get some of your turning radius back.

Which ones run that wide? I was thinking of doing the Cooper Stt Pros in 37x13.5x18 or x17, Cooper specs them all at 13.3 wide even the x20. 2ND choice at the Too MTs in 315/70/18 which they list in parentheses as 36x13, they spec them at 13.0 wide.

Ah my bad I was assuming you meant Toyo MT's. Those in the 37x13.5R/17 flavor are 14.2" wide. Anything narrower obviously helps. Same story, wheels need to be spec'd specifically for big tired like that (there is a small margin of space of course) and control arms will be needed at that point to maintain a turning radius that isn't atrocious. Trimming of pinch weld and gender liner required. Are you radius arm or 4-link?

Anyone seen or tried the Toyo Open Country C/T? In the market for some new shoes and trying to decide between these and the Toyo AT2 Extremes. I think it's time for new ball joints too. Cooper STT's are cupping like crazy at around 40k. Think I'm done with mud tires. The old PW and me don't really like the mud all that much anymore anyway!

Haven't tried the Ct but the rt's on my van are pretty damn good. Very impressed with the traction on and off road and they ride smooth and quiet. It's hard to go wrong with toyo. If you try them please let us know what you think

Never heard of anyone running the CT (in sure tons of people do, just never met anyone or seen on the forums). If their sidewalk construction is anything like their MT they would be almost unkillable. I'm still amazed at these tires, they just won't die. Best of luck!

Saw the CT's on a truck here. They look pretty nice. Almost exactly Like Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's. Been there, done that. Local tire shop has them in stock but I decided to go with the AT2's because of their track record and price. Having them installed this Thurs for $1,267 out the door and free rotations. :D

The TOYO AT2 is a great tire. And the sidewalls are excellent. You will be very happy with the decision.
