Good catch! I forgot about the fairlead thing.

I suppose you mean the gussets on the bumper have to be cut? What would that interfere with, the winch?

ADD is now offering bumpers for the PW with factory winch. Costly...but aren't they all?

Looks like they took some styling cues directly from AEV with that bull bar and the two tow hook areas. But the sides and center are clearly Rebel inspired. It's the bumper we should have. The Rebel bumper belongs on the PW more than it belongs on the Rebel.

Why even buy that stupid bumper then? That's less than the factory winch is rated at. Also, it's a fugly bumper.

Tube bumpers solve all of the above stated problems. And they are lighter, and make you go faster. And are super cheap if you make it yourself. The list goes on, but everybody already knows how sexy this is:

Most of the time, tube bumpers do nothing for me, aesthetics wise. At least on a new/stockish looking truck. The stock one or AEV have my vote as far as looks go.

What about chopping the lower portion of the stock bumper off (at desired angle(s)/height) and then adding in any needed support/skids etc? That has been running through my noggin for a while, but i have never looked much at it before.

I was thinking about cutting the bottom of mine off with a cut off wheel.

If I ever find that approach is a problem for me, mine will be getting the cutoff wheel treatment. I could do that and change my mind a few times for the cost of a fab'ed bumper.

There is a perfect line across the bottom of our front bumpers that I think would be easy to follow with the wheel. And should look clean afterward. Haven't measured it, but it looks to be about 2 inches to my memory.

Yes, yes. Then maybe add in some type of braced tube/skid right at the base of where the cut was made that would take a good solid hit from trying to push up over a rock or tree or Raptor.

The shackle mounts are gusseted and interfere with the winch cradle. It's a relatively easy production change from what Don said. He is designing a bolt in Fairlead. He measured my truck when he had it last but his business is booming so it's going to be a while.

I have Newbumperitis and I'm not sure I'll wait.

Here's a better shot showing the AEV bumper doesn't do much to improve the approach. And since it's designed for the diesel, it's also sticking out further than stock.

So I have been looking at bumpers on http://bumpersuperstore.com/c-960409-sh ... -2017.html simply because it was a good site to see a lot of different bumpers in one place. I have a 2016 Laramie PW. So far the Aluminess front bumper is at the top of my list because I don't have to relocate/re-orient my factory winch setup. I like that. I don't want to do that. As I was looking through the different bumpers I noticed some of the non-winch bumpers with the long light bar openings in the middle. They are usually lined up with the recovery hooks which usually line up with the main frame mounting brackets. After looking at my factory bumper with the winch behind it I notice that it really does tuck back there nicely even the roller fairleads. This got me wondering if one of these low profile non-winch bumpers with the large and long light bar openings might work? They actually look like they might bulge out more then our factory bumpers so it seems like there might be room unless there is some internal ribbing that would interfere with the factory winch mounting bracket. I'm sure others on here have had to look into this. Anybody?

Even this one I might be able to have a fab shop cut out that center pillar and mount a Hawes fairlead in its place. That cut out is perfectly in line with the stock recovery hooks which it re-uses. Our factory winch location is perfectly in line with the recovery hooks.
