Big Bear Run, Novemner 2016.

Northshore Cafe itself is a nice little breakfast place. I may head up Friday night, would anyone be interested in that? If we are finishing up around 2 on Saturday I will most likely run 2N02 (the Pacific Crest Trail, which in big bear has motorized sections that can be fun) and another northeastern section there.

Side story, last time we were out there we were on a rescue and had to do a legitimate water crossing through a bamboo field and then cross a rock patch right after a group of built crawler XJ's came out. It's amazing what a 2wd dually can make it through when there's no other way :) I don't know if the water crossing is year round but it would doable and fun.

I will likely stay Saturday night, dispersed camp style.

Like Allen8511 said also, it might be a good idea to grab an Adventure Pass. You can grab a day pass at the Big Bear Discovery Center, about 10 minutes from the Northshore Cafe

Well, after being excited for this weekend, I might have to bow out. Work schedule is in the air thanks to a subcontractor so I won't know for sure until Thursday or Friday.

Well, I am all set :-) Got my on-board air worked out, did some work to my radios and have packed some basic tools and recovery gear.

Definitely X2 on an adventure pass.

I am planning on coming up Sat morning, and camping either yellow post or dispersed in Holcomb Valley on Sat night. Have to bail somewhat early on Sunday so I can make it down the mountain for the meet and greet at Tembo Tusk on Sunday.

I think TheDriver21 and I have the same plan. Mind if we join you camping?

Where's Tembo Tusk around here and what's the occasion? Are they just opening a store?

Just called the Discovery Center. Still no fires allowed, even in campgrounds. They open at 8:30 and have trail maps and a yellow post site map. Not sure that we need them since BlkWgn has worked the area but I will grab them if timing works out.

So I'm 50/50... heading back to work in a bit, if things go smoothly then my dad and I will see you guys at north shore cafe... if not, I'll have to sit this one out. Either way, I'll post up in here later tonight or early a.m. To confirm attendance.

I have a vhf "race" radio i use when putting for desert races. I can bring that along if that be compatible with some of your coms?

@Allen8511 see you soon!

@yellowranger1 hope you can make it man. Myself and I'm sure a few others are bringing HAM radios. I will also bring my CB. My understanding is that your VHF carries on standard amateur bands right? If so that would be perfect.

-Really depends on the specific capabilities of the radio. A quick test is to see if you can set it to 146.520 Mhz or something near that.

Well, got called into work this weekend last minute so I will not make either the trip or tembo tusk.

The event at Tembo Tusk is a joint thing with them and American Adventurist. The American Adventurist group tries to do a meet and greet and a trail weekend every month. Now that there is some interest here in so cal I will start posting invites to the AAV monthly trail runs
