Long Tube Headers

My question is: Has anyone actually installed long tube headers on a 2005 Power Wagon? Any long tubes I find specifically state 2006-2010. I've searched through threads with "headers" in them and found no definitive answer.

Here's hoping someone can speak to this from experience!

From what I can remember these would be some custom job , not very easy to fit, and expensive. Just not worth the money.

Yeah I already called them and they said no, but the guy spoke to me like I was bothering him and I felt like he couldn't wait to get rid of me. That made me wonder if someone had actually done it and therefore it was known to be doable even if it involved a wee bit of modification. I guess 2005s are stuck with OEM or shorties, but from what I've read shorties don't offer much improvement if any over the OEM cast irons.

What I've read. The TTI headers need the right side motor mount trimmed about a 1/4" or so back for clearance.

That they won't fit an '05 makes no sense to me. As far as I know, other than cosmetics, there is no difference between an '05 and an '06.

It doesn't make sense to me either but that is what they said. Is anyone aware of any differences, other than exterior cosmetics, between a 2005 and a 2006? Frame differences, location of whatever could get in the way? Something that maybe just makes it so much work as to be impractical for most situations e.g. you need to remove the engine.

Chris, here's a pic from the 2002-2008 FSM, my '05 looks just like the pic. What changed ? I guess I'll try calling TTI and see if someone can explain to me why they don't fit a 2005, hopefully I won't get the same guy that Dodger talked to.

Hmm. If that's the only difference it sounds like it would be a simple matter to relocate or delete the catalytic converters.

I've stopped by the TTI and ARH dealers in town and asked them. They don't know why but said they would find out and let me know. I asked them to please find out if it is just some kind of modification that needs done or what. The ARH guy also deals in other header too as far as I know and said he would try to find out if one of them will fit the '05 PW. I will post here if I find out anything useful.

Just an update to say that I never did receive a response from the local dealers. No matter, I have been in contact with Steve from ARH and he said the headers for the 2500 will fit no problem. I have ordered a set and will let you know how that turns out.

The ARH headers are currently installed on a 2005 Power Wagon. The guy said he had to slightly raise the engine on the right side to get better frame clearance. The left side was apparently no issue at all.

The system is the American Racing Headers with cats for a Dodge 2500. They assured me it would fit a 2005 PW and it did. With respect to the cost, it was done as part of having my engine swapped to a 6.1 so I will have to see if the costs are broken out separately. Pictures I may be able to do (once I get the truck back) although I may need assistance since I've never posted a pic on here before.

I still haven't got my truck back yet. I had a new engine installed as well and there have been issues. I've learned things like "you can put the wrong head on the wrong bank of a Hemi (it wasn't me, so I don't get the blame for that one). Now the engine sounds like a diesel and there were suggestions that it was pushrod length. I'm thinking it is something else. I went over the parts list on the invoice from the shop that swapped the heads around and noted that they used Mopar OEM head gaskets for a 5.7 Hemi despite the engine being a 6.1. The heads are ported 5.7s. I think the gasket bore is 3.94" and is intruding into the 6.1 bore (4.055") and the pistons are hitting the head gasket and that is the cause of the racket. I will try to share pics if/when I ever get the thing back!
