all mud terrains are 21/32nds.... Geeze lolMpersicke87 wrote:Well, I am on my now 4th set of tires in 112,000 kms, just to give you an idea of how hard I am on them. I work oilfield, so my driving is lease roads, dirt roads, winter roads, highways, and all the shit in between.

Garbage, separated on me after 50,000kms.
Duratracs studded - 25,000kms
Great tire, got them used from my mechanic for free, they had 60% tread or better left on them. Great tire I ran them for a winter and spring before I blew a side wall. Would get them again if they made a 10ply 37" but, that's asking a little much I think.
Fierce Attitudes - 35,000km
Great all round traction, not bad on the ice, chewed through snow, sand, mud, gravel, all of it. Cleaned out well, took a LOT to balance, approx. 16-20oz per tire. Downside, soft side walls, blew one. Still have 70% or so on the 3 remaining I have. Waiting on 1 new one to show up so I have a set of 4 again. just in case.
Introducing The Maxxis Trepador! 2,000kms
heavy as all hell, about 85lbs a pop, 3ply side wall, listed as a 8 ply tire, but the seem really stiff for being 8ply, no weights required for a smooth ride. Come new with a whopping 21/32 tread. Will keep you all posted.
for pics see my thread. http://forum.powerwagonregistry.org/vie ... f=2&t=3800
I've got roughly 20k on my 37's, and they've got a lot of tread left. I have no doubt I could hit 50k with these. Love them.israelstanage wrote:I had 35 x 12.50 R17's Toyo Open Country R/T put on my factory 15 SLT today. Little to no road noise, especially compared to the DuraShakes. I'll update as I put more miles on them. No rub on either side at full lock. Might rub a bit at full stuff with full/near full lock. Looks awesome without being overbearing. Went with these because their actual width measures 12.5 inches (open country m/t and trail grapps come in around 13.2 in this size). I was also worried about road noise with an mt. I ran trail grapplers on my old truck and the noise didn't bother me too much, but it was a half ton.
I got 37,500 miles out of the shakes, and could have eeked out 5-10k more. They were starting to chunk a bit and the wearing slightly unevenly (rotated every oil change). Performed very well in every condition I had them in (mud, snow, ice, rocks), other than highway. OK on highway, but for that level of tread aggression (moderate), they were incredibly shaky (had them balanced 3 times in the first week) and loud. I wouldn't buy them again, but I can see why guys like them.
Not expecting anything miraculous out of these, but with the level of tread aggression, good width for factory rims/stance, and a 45,000 mile tread life warranty, should end up happy. Unless they blow off road.
So lets see... How do I get that kinda of mileage ... I would not say that I baby her, but for example on the interstate I never go over 65mph. When turning I have always been taught that you should never dry steer... and I for the most part listened to my elders I do what I can to preserve OX and do not attempt the "Watch this" type of stuff. You can look up my threads and see that I do a fare amount of off roading. Will wrote:That's odd, I've never known anyone to get over 30k miles out of mud grapplers, most of the time it's mid 20k range. You must baby that thing. Haha
