Re: 2nd Chance PW
Another small installment on the PW
My old man surprised me with some new cab lights and the rear vinyl that I was putting off purchasing. I wasn't sold on the rear vinyl but he was so confident about it that he bought it. So I had to give it a shot and, actually, i like it. The cab lights and some wax on the roof made a huge improvement over the dusty and sun beaten old ones. Also, while we were at it he started restoring the paint on the hood and brought the vinyl back to life and I decided to shave off the hemi and 4x4 badging. Thats it for now, but expect another update shortly...Onto the pics

4x4 vinyl removal before & after (thought it looked like something that belonged on a ford)
POWERWAGON vinyl added

Thanks! She will still wear some trail damage and will continue to collect more but i'll do what I can to keep it looking nice and make it mine. Plus it gives me some re-sale value. I think, if i had to, I could turn around and sell it for a little profit.vanished wrote:Dang - you're really doing a nice job on this truck! I would have just beat it... Lol

Very sharp!
The snow pic looks like its should be on a 4x4 mag cover.
And I too am not a fan of the 4x4 on the rear. Ranger looking thing.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Black Pearl I just need to shop out the power lines and swap the houses in the background for mountains and she'll be good for the next 4wheelin mag!

Re: 2nd Chance PW
thanks all. I wish I could come up with a better place for the license plate, though. Its a good thing its pliable because it gets banged up on a pretty regular basis.

UPDATE:
Made some more progress and a couple changes on the truck. Had some ghosting from the government vinyls so the old man and I got to work wet sanding, polishing, and buffing them out and taking some of the pin striping from brush. The truck is far from perfect and I am not worried about scratches but the ghosting always bugged me.
I also decided to remove the black B pillar vinyls, remove the power wagon hood decals (tough decision but I like it), and paint the wheels black (trial run with plasti-dip).
Off with the old:
Old man going to work:
Close up on wheels:
Final result:
A little interior upgrade (RBZ 430N from the old basic 130). Ebayed it for $230 and sold the old for $100, keeping it budgeted!

For some reason the images are large and cut off on my screen, is it like that for anyone else?

Re: 2nd Chance PW
Pics look perfect on my phone. Those vinyl pieces between the doors must be on there just to blend the windows together, Ram must think that looks more appealing. Definitely looks better like that on some trucks, especially white ones like yours. That plasti dip is good stuff as long as you sprayed it on thick, takes a beating, unless you're running it through rocks.

On my phone, large pics are always cut off to the right side for some reason, like they are here in your thread. On my computer they will show up full though... Never figured that out.

UPDATE:
The Budget Build gets some upgrades!
Came across a deal on 37 KO2s that I couldn't pass up. Long story short the upgrade only set me back $75 (including mount & balance) with a full sized spare bonus (spare has a tread lug chunked but otherwise in great shape). Also decided to pickup a hypertech speedo calibrator/code reader. For $149 it was worth it for the speedo and code reading ability.
In with the new:
Selling the old, they lasted on CL for less than 24 hours:
ALso bedlined my bumper. I really like how it blends the black on the rockers now:
