Shelby visiting SoCal, looking to wheel sep22

Shelby Stclaire is visiting SoCal on sept 22 and is looking to hit a trail. He will probably be riding along with me, and I was thinking of the Big Bear area. My first thought was Gold Mountain, but also thinking White Mountain and another forum suggested Rattlesnake Canyon. I am open to where ever, just want to try and get a small group together, hopefully between here and Expo Portal I can get a few vehicles together

Did not here anything here, so it has kind of been planned over on Expedition Portal ( link to thread http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/t ... g-going-on ) but it would be great if you could make it. We are running Rattlesnake Canyon. One of the guys is a trainer, so he used one of his trip sheets for details, but dont worry, it is not anything formal. Here is the "important" info

When: Saturday, Sept 22nd ‐ ALL DAY - Meeting at 9am
Where: Rattlesnake Canyon, Lucerne Valley, backside of Big Bear
Lunch: Lunch will be on the trail. Please bring a picnic lunch, and plenty of water! Dinner: Dinner will be at outdoor bbq biker bar in Pioneer Town, called Pappy & Harriets

Trail Info & What to Expect:
• We will meet at a supermarket in Lucerne Valley called the Lucerne Valley Market, where you can stock on water, food, sunblock, etc.. It’s a great little store, with everything you’ll ever need, ever. From there we proceed south on Hwy 247 (Old Woman Springs Road) to the trailhead.
• Rattlesnake Canyon is a dry wash carved into the bare rocky backside of the San Bernardino Mountains. The trail is predominately loose sand, with basketball sized rocks dispersed randomly along the trail within a narrow canyon. This is an excellent trail for stock 4x4 SUV’s and trucks with good ground clearance. However, we will be airing down for this run to roll through the sand. If you own a portable air compressor, please bring it. I will bring one, along with a compressed air tank.
• There are several mines along this trail that can be explored on foot, time permitting, including an old mining camp with some structures and equipment still intact.
• Attendees may exit the canyon and head up into Big Bear along a dirt road called 2N01, or continue south towards Joshua Tree National Park, where we will stop at Pioneer Town, which was built in 1946 as a movie set for countless Western classics. In PioneerTown is an awesome little restaurant called Pappy & Harriets that makes amazing hamburgers. I once wrote this in my journal upon my first visit: “The steakhouse at Pioneer Town is quirky, dishelved, rough, boisterous, filled with Harley riders, and delicious. Don't miss this stop!”

Thanks for the info! We are going to try and make it. There is a bug going around my kids school that I am hoping they don't catch. I will post up my non-committal response on Expo Portal.
