American Adventurist is excited to announce that registration for our first annual Appalachian Rendezvous is now open. The event is being from October 24th to the 26th at the UWHARRIE OFF ROAD TRAINING CENTER near Troy, North Carolina. This is a non-profit, family friendly event with the emphasis on the "doing" of adventure travel. We're working hard to give you ample opportunities to return to your campfire all tuckered out from enjoying all the outdoors has to offer. Or you can just BS around the campfire and eat lots of good food.

This event will bring together the successful formula of the western Desert and Mountain Rendezvous events that the American Adventurist forum is famous for with a heavy seasoning of the manic fun and activities the Appalachian RidgeRunner Supreme Expedition Squad (the A.R.S.E.S.) is infamous for. We're finalizing the "event tracks" and final schedule for this weekend. For these event tracks, expect 4WD trail runs, a MTB run, a river run via kayak and possibly some cool training opportunities for starters. Oh, and a big potluck and dutch oven soiree on Saturday night per our Rendezvous tradition. And a raffle. And swag. Holy crap are we going to have some cool swag (including some top secret new A.R.S.E.S. paddling swag)... Yup, we're going whole hog for the Appalachian Rendezvous folks!

To register please hop on over to the2014 Appalachian Rendezvous Official Thread http://americanadventurist.com/Forum/sh ... ial-Thread to check out all the details and to sign up. And be sure to check in regularly to keep abreast of new information and updates. We look forward to seeing everybody there.

Special thanks to...

DATE: This event is scheduled for October 24-26 2014

Since our events now span several forums, regular updates will be made on the 2014 Appalachian Rendezvous Official Thread and to the American Adventurist FB page to ensure we all get the word.

This looks awesome. Do we return to base camp every night or camp along the trail?

it is a base camp setup. This is something that has grown from the west coast, we do the Desert Rendezvous in March and the Mountain Rendezvous in the fall. This is the first year for having an event on the east coast, but there is a great group of people putting it together. Family friendly community, I guarantee that you will leave with new friends. There are a few from the west coast group making the trek out for this to make sure that everything goes smoothly. Unfortunately, I don't have the vacation days to make it this year, but am planning on next year.

Sounds like fun! Only about an hour away from my house too! Hopefully I'll have off for it. UORTC is great, been there many a time! Gone to several really cool events there and I took their 4wd 101 class and it was GREAT!!!- I plan on taking their higher level classes in the future, always great to learn new stuff! Scott (the chief instructor) is a super nice guy and VERY knowledgable. Really sounds like a great event, I'll have to see if I can be out of work for it! Bummer that you can't go Blk Wgn, would have been cool to meet up! Thanks for posting this anyway though, hopefully a good number of us can go!!!

I wish I could, but I dont have enough vacation time left this year, and the way I have it figured I am about $2k in gas round trip, not including any other expenses so it just will not happen for me. A few of the SoCal guys are flying in for it though.
