Noob in CO

Hello all, after much deliberation and research I'll be scooping up my first PW this weekend.

2017 model with 70k on it, lux pkg (heated seats, steering wheel, and leather)

Not new to dodge, but this will be my first HD gasser. Already found some very useful information here and looking forward to running this thing in the Rockies!

Pay no attention to ORT. He can be a bit of a butt hole. I have the Carli ball joints, control arms, and 2G Carli track bar. It's holding up the longest so far. Everything else is Thuren.

My use for the truck will be daily driver for awhile plus our weekend adventure rig. Camping in the mountains, going to the lake, doing some trails with my uncles Jeep club, etc;

Front end upgrade kit because... it’s a dodge? I’ll know more once I get a few miles on it but I’m counting on having to address the front as I’ve had to with every dodge with a few miles on it.

2.0’s because I’ll need new shocks with the leveling coils and will replace the rears at the same time. For the money they seem like a decent all around use.

You'll find that the front ends on the newer trucks hold up a lot better especially in terms of longevity than the turd gens. And usually don't have problems. Especially with death wobble. That usually is only a result of worn-out track bar on the radius arm trucks. But the front track bar is a wear item and a bunch of us have worn them out, especially pounding sand in Moab.

One of the biggest areas of improvement us guys see is that rear track bar. I'd seriously consider doing the Turen Rear track bar before bothering with the front. I'm at 97k now on 39's and beat the hell out of my truck and all my ball joints are still good.

We're all pretty passionate about steering people right around here. Just go find a discussion post about cough cough "AEV suspension"; lololol

I only knock the 2.0's because everyone seems to regret not having just gone with the 2.5's from the start. I can count several friends around these parts who have those sentiments. You're not completely there in terms of cost, but you've made a pretty significant investment.

Oh I had a good laugh when I came across AEV’s PW suspension upgrade... and the price...

Definitely can appreciate the passion of wanting to help people make the best choices for their rigs and I’m all ears for those with practical experience.

If that’s the case I’ll check out the 2.5’s so it’s ready for whatever down the road when it’s no longer my daily.

Yea Im no expert, but I think I would either just use thurens white body shocks, or pony up for 2.5’s. Its not all that much more $ from the smaller non reservoir shocks, and Im sure the improvement is tenfold.

Yeah, after doing some more reading and seeing the "if I had to do it over again" posts I think I'll start with:

• 2.5's

• steering box brace

• thuren front coils

• thuren rear track bar

I've had a chance to put a few miles on it now and it cruises pretty well down the highway, slight play but I think it just needs an alignment. Down the road I'll be doing the PSC kit when I move up to 37's or larger. 35" Toyo's have plenty of life left in them for now while I do the suspension work.

If there is slight play and you feel a slight click in the steering wheel, look at your upper intermediated shaft coupling above your feet. EMF makes bushings for it.

Didn’t notice the clicking, but wasn’t listening for it. fits the symptom of slight dead spot from 11-1 though
