Re: Ford Tremor
And 35s....They can keep the Diesel, but 35s, modern t/case and terrain modes, bigger engine, better towing capacity, and rock rails are attractive. Looks like Ram will have to step it up sooner then planned!
2018 Flame Red, Moon Roof, Dual Alternators, Ram Boxes sadly Ram ran out of, Luxo Package with 8.4 UConnect, Enter and Go with remote start, Auto Wipers and Lights. Added missing skids and White Knuckle sliders. 35" BFG KM3s. Procal and Warn wireless remote for winch.

Re: Ford Tremor
No front locker... just a limited slip. No swaybar disconnect.
I think the Ford will appeal to more customers since you can't mention "Powerwagon" without someone mentioning "diesel". It just shows how many people don't get it.
Also with Ford and GM coming out with bigger and better gassers I can only hope RAM has something in the works.
The mediocre V6 in the Wranglers/Gladiators is the main reason I bought a Powerwagon. FCA needs to get it together.
Hopefully the 8 speed in the 19 is a step in the right direction. The one in our Grand Cherokee has been great!

Competition between manufacturers is a good thing... Maybe FCA will finally pick up the pace on improvements to the Power Wagons.

guaranty the axles transfercase and drivetrain take a dump when real offroaders go to use it...ever see how long an abused but maintained PW goes for?
missing some key features that we have, but also a few modes and crawl controls that may be better implemented. PW has the best throttle mapping for low speed crawl control. Cant wait to see a nice and purty F250 in the rocks

Re: Ford Tremor
I really like what I see so far, in that this looks like the *lean* version of the power wagon. The PW is cool but this Ford package is doing away with all the things the PW has but doesn’t need.PWJouster wrote:guaranty the axles transfercase and drivetrain take a dump when real offroaders go to use it...

As to drivetrain, those Ford parts are as strong or better than what we have on current PW’s. I like the dodge 9.25, I don’t like that the current production CAD axle has 4 distinct joints in it. The diesel will be a challenge with the added weight and torque. Axle hop murders axles.
The 4low throttle mapping in my mind has never been useful. It’s an automatic, it would make sense on a manual but I don’t care about it on autos.
The winch, front locker and disconnecting swaybar are the first things I’d dump if I was able to cut cost on a power wagon. Front lockers are rarely needed, opposite of rear lockers, so front braking LSD should be wonderful and actually might be BETTER because it isn’t murdering your steering capability. The disconnecting swaybar is nothing great to me because I’ve run the full gamut. The best setup is a soft rate swaybar. Not no swaybar, not a factory stuff swaybar (unless you’re towing heavy which the PW isn’t good at). I’ve used my winch twice and both times I could have done without it. Some guys use them a lot. Most guys don’t need it.
My biggest factors in it this is worth it would be: suspension theory/design, suspension articulation and spring rates, shock design and valving, and price.

I used to think a front LSD would be a great addition - but I definitely wouldn't want one now. I am disappointed in the performance of my rear LSD - it does nothing for me on sheer ice - I have to use the lockers if I need traction.
My 2013 Power Wagon towed like shit - the main reason i had to dump it. The 2014 tows relatively great - even heavy - based on a lot of towing experience

Re: Ford Tremor
Let's call the Tremor Package what it is, and upgraded off road package by Ford. For 90% of the folks out there this is going to be a great upgrade, especially if you have to have a diesel. It's not a direct competitor to the Power Wagon, but I think what it brings to the place will make Ram take a closer look at the Power Wagon platform and possibly make some upgrades down the road (maybe factory rock rails and 35" tires). What I don't like is the name. It makes me think of the Tremor's Movie or shaking like you have tremors. Now if they would have called it the High Boy, that would have been cool!

So for fun I jumped on Ford.com and built a 2019 Super Duty that would be similar to a loaded 2019 Power Wagon. I wonder how much more the Tremor Package would add to this?

The way trucks are priced, I'm betting $70K for a gasser and about $80K for diesel and that's with entry level trim. In a few years trucks will be 6 figures, maybe sooner.

Re: Ford Tremor
Agreed on what it's used for, already used the sway bar disconnect 3 time and front locker once (we've had the PW 3 weeks), being here in the back roads and mountains in Southern Nevada we use them all the time, as for the winch, haven't used it yet, but when it's needed it will be nice to already have it and not have to add it myself. Guess unlike most we plan to use the PW as an over sized Jeep that it replacedBill2014 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 9:57 amI understand your points - but everyone's use case is differentDamageWagon wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:24 am...PWJouster wrote:guaranty the axles transfercase and drivetrain take a dump when real offroaders go to use it...
