brad21's 2018 Mojave Sand 'Pee Wee' Build

Post by brad21 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:54 am

Not sure how far we're gonna go with it, but we're definitely going to do some mods, including putting a camper of some sort on it...

An hour after picking 'Pee Wee' up, we flew from Reno to Portland to get the truck we wanted...

For sure the stock running boards will come off and we'll do a muffler delete or something for the exhaust, suspension, bumpers probably at some point as well, will post updates here!

Suggestions welcome!

Welcome! Glad to see you're enjoying your new truck and getting it dirty so soon. You're going to fit right in around here.

Read through the threads in the Member Builds section. You'll get lots of good ideas in there.

*Edit to add* And put that winch hook on already!

Sweet dude that’s a good looking truck! Im right over in Tigard. I can usually get any drugs... uh truck parts, if you need anything down the road. I work with the wagons a lot, if you come across any issues feel free to swing by!

There’s a couple other wagon owners pretty close by that are on the forum here too

PS did you go looking for ‘snowmageddon’? We didn’t get jack. Somehow it was even more boring here than I thought possible, maybe I was hoping something snow-like would stick to the ground...

We're getting more rain/snow here in the Tahoe area as I type. We drove probably half our trip home from PDX/Bend in 4wd!

Got the winch hook on now. Tried to do it when I got the tires put on but couldn't get a good cutting grip on the industrial strength zip ty holding it on!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Awesome truck, I really dig that Mojave Sand, especially on the Power Wagon!

Kept the resonator, was afraid that it would drone at highway speed. Sounds great now!

Ordered:
Four Wheel Camper 'Hawk' in Khaki (a super close match to the Mojave Sand)
White Knuckle sliders
Aluminess front/rear bumpers
Dethloff engine/tranny guard

Installed:
Muffler delete
Carli front diff guard

Soon to be installed:
Hellwig airbags and swaybar
Purple Cranium rear diff guard
Husky rear mud flaps

Good call on the Aluminess bumpers! I've got their front bumper on my 3rd Gen and it is awesome, can't wait to see the truck when it's all done!

Nice! Not sure if you've sorted out where you're going to mount it but I was able to mount my compressor in front of my radiator/condenser with some simple "L" brackets. Its been installed for about a year and its still going strong.

Yes, that's the Mex border at Buttercup Sand Dunes. We just got back from Overland Expo. Had a great time, spent a LOT of money on MORE stuff, weather was shite of course...

I saw your truck there...
Looks great! That camper is a perfect match.
We were there Saturday and the weather was the best in 4 years. I heard it sucked on Friday and I'm guessing Sunday too...

Thanks Tommy, work in progress!

Thursday and Friday were kinda crappy, Saturday was better and we needed to get home so we bailed Saturday evening. I promptly got sick and upchucked alongside the highway about 10 miles out of Flagstaff, stopped overnight to recover in Williams...
