EMF steering linkage?

Post by RustyPW » Tue May 21, 2019 6:58 pm

Does EMF still make the steering linkage? If so, where can I find it?

As of the last time I checked, not in the USA. It's ashame too, because the set on my PW is still awesome after all of these years! Absolutely ZERO deflection and 100% pure USDA BEEF! You could always get the ends and put one together or ask Clay himself nicely to make you one.

Well..........I ordered the DOR steering linkage. The 1013-STANDARD DOR Heavy Duty Steering Kit, Bolt-In, Standard Kit with stabilizer clamp and heim seals.

Both tie-rod ends on the drag link are bad on my PW. I could hear/feel a slight knock at slow speeds. Took a while to find it.

And my new smart bar should be here next Tuesday.

Eek. Check that the thing has enough travel on your truck! Mine made it two weeks of street driving before it snapped the pin at the pitman. Got the ‘new and improved’ pin from DOR and it snapped a few weeks later. The kit did not have nearly enough travel to work and the flop/clunk and dead spot in the center were annoying. Be careful with that setup. It was nowhere near developed enough and flat out dangerous.

You went from the (potentially) best steering setup ever developed for these trucks, to what might be the worst. Following all of my testing I am a big fan of the Mopar linkage. Especially for the price, just run it and replace it when it wears out. It will not be cheaper to run a full heim steering kit unless you’re running it for over a decade.

I’m even hesitant on the EMF stuff because there’s so many adjustment points, and it’s damn expensive! I liked my EMF bar but I snapped it as well because it didn’t have enough travel. You can buy 4 full Mopar kits for the price of an EMF setup.

It's highly doubtful he'll even receive it based on the numerous convo's I've had with people about that company and how they operate and conduct themselves.

I could send you screenshots endlessly. I'm not exaggerating.

SMH. Good luck man.

Caveat emptor with DOR. Some of their parts are skookum, but stray cats and monkeys must be running the office.

You don't have to wait to call your cc company, you can call them now and let them know of the issue.

Called the credit card company first and told them to cancel the transaction. Then call DOR. Talked to a woman. Told her that I want to cancel. She put me on hold for a few minutes then came back on. Ask a few questions. I could hear a guy in the background talking, but couldn't make out what he was saying. Told her that I already called the bank. The phone went dead for a few moments. She came back on, and I could hear the guy in the background say motherfucker. She said that it will be tomorrow before they could do anything. And hung up.

Anyone got part numbers for the pitman arm tie-rod end, and the long tie-rod end from there to the cross bar. It's the T style linkage. When I give my VIN number, it comes back with the Y style linkage.

i talked to the bank first to get the ball rolling. Then called DOR. Think they was shocked that I called the bank first. No hassle so far. Fingers crossed.

I have the Thuren drag link. It’s pure beefcake. It is heim style so you can’t perfectly adjust it like the factory drag link, otherwise it’s great. It steers a lot easier than my EMF link did and does not clunk. I can get you one if you’d like to go that route.

I definitely recommend the factory Mopar tie rod.

Interesting conversation. I was looking DOR drag link to replace the OE link with the latest recall out on it. Haven't taken it in for the recall yet. I'm leery about the recall fix, assuming all is good, to weld the jam nuts. Doesn't make sense and no longer able to center steering wheel when needed. I guess it is a tac weld so it can be ground off if adjustment is needed.

Nope. It’s a continuous weld around the nuts to the center unit. I suspect it’s going to need a new drag link to adjust it.

Not the case with this guys drag link “repair”. I cant tell if its bubblegum, jb weld or an actual weld.

Regardless, what a joke.
