Traction control on 2011?
Traction control on 2011?
I find it hard to believe that my 2011 doesn’t have a Traction Control button. Either:
1) I can’t find it. Only so many places they could’ve put it.
2) For whatever reason the 2011s don’t have one.
Can I swap a 2012 switch in? If the 2011s do have a button please let me know where.

Re: Traction control on 2011?
According to the owners manual, it's #2 in the upper switch bank. However... also according to the owners manual, not all 2011 trucks came equipped with ESC.

Re: Traction control on 2011?
Yeah it’s definitely not there. Must have one of the ones that wasn’t equipped with it. I find it odd that the Power Wagons wouldn’t have it standard. Any idea how difficult it would be to add it?

Why would you want to add traction control? Its literally the worst thing ever...most people have to mod their trucks to properly bypass it. Be happy that you don't have it

Re: Traction control on 2011?
My 2011 does not have a TSC Off button, however when I was on 34’s I noticed several times it felt like it did have TSC as it would chop throttle under certain circumstances with tires slipping on road. With how much off-road use the truck has seen though it’s never felt like it has TSC screwing with me and it definitely doesn’t use the brakes in any capacity.
To add to the ‘TSC sucks’ group, I’m also very familiar with where the ABS fuse is. ABS is dangerous in washboard and gravel. You need your tires to stop and plow.

Re: Traction control on 2011?
So being a Power Wagon noob, I assumed that it had a traction control system. And that I had no button to turn it on or off. After a quick test I can spin the tires with no problem. Still wouldn’t mind having it. Keep the wife and kids safe.

Re: Traction control on 2011?
There's a couple other ways to see if your truck has any kind of traction control... When you turn your key on and the instrument cluster does the mandatory two second bulb test, look to see if either of the traction control telltale lights come on.
The other option is to go to this URL: https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/Bu ... J4FG576058
In the address bar, delete the last 17 digits of the address and enter your own VIN number, then refresh the page. This should bring up the build sheet for your truck so you can read through it to see what it was equipped with off the assembly line. You can even print it out and save it with your records.

Or, try doing donuts in the snow. If you have it, it will put the cabosh to that shit real fast.
RMPW, I will agree with you slightly though... I do not mind the system the majority of the time on the main roads. I kind of prefer it.

TC=Total Crap. Be glad you don't have it. If the main roads are in bad shape you should be driving slower anyway.
I've had (2) PW's, one with TC and one without. The 05' PW was awesome without TC.

Re: Traction control on 2011?
Keep the wife and kids safe? I almost wrecked a Wrangler because of that crap. I veered off the shoulder and was going to ease it back on the road. Next thing I knew, one of the tires barked from it braking and the Jeep did whatever the hell it wanted to and I had zero control. Went into the other lane, damn good thing nobody was coming the other way!
Also, that traction control shit will get you stuck. Don't take anyone with you that can't walk out of a bad situation. Haha
If I get in anything with it, I turn it off.

This new 2019 1500 is ridiculously nanny controlled. Can NOT power out of a mud hole, it'll kill the gas and abs kicks in, all kinds of crazy shit. Turn it all off and it must come back on at 15mph or something because as soon as you think something good is going to happen, nope.

I think the fusebox is the same between a 1500 and 2500, if your fusebox looks like this...Will wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 4:48 pmThis new 2019 1500 is ridiculously nanny controlled. Re: Traction control on 2011?
I'm a TC hater as well.
Damage Wagon is it potentially torque management? My Chevy was horrible for that. Only would do 40% of max throttle to 10 mph then could go wide open. Suck to do a burnout, but would do doughnuts like a mofo once you got the wheelspin up.
At least on the PW, when I shift 4wd to 2wd it doesn't turn the traction control back on. My '11 Ram 1500 did this and it sucked around town in snow/ice as you literally had to turn TC off everytime you cycled between 2hi/4hi.
ESC I get, I am not sure I understand what traction control does to add value.

Re: Traction control on 2011?
I don’t know, the torque management on this truck is terrible. Thinking on it more I don’t have the ESC button and I don’t think the truck has it, likely just TM like you said. It isn’t a problem in the dirt
