HI-LIFT BASE

Post by verdesardog » Sat Oct 27, 2012 9:07 pm

I made a big, stable base for my hi-lift modled after the First Responder one form Hi-lift. I have contacted a fabricating shop here and can make and sell these for $70.00 plus shipping. I know it seems like a lot of money for something that should come standard with these jacks but that is not much more than what it would cost for me to have them made. They are 8"x8" made from structrual channel steel. You have to provide you own 1/2" pin. The hi-lift can be rotated 90 degrees in the base depending on how you want the "legs" to be positioned in relation to your vehicle.

The pics are my prototype. The ones I will sell will be made by a professional welding shop and the welds will be much prettier. The photos show the base being used to lift the front end of My diesel truck with absolutly no bending of the base.
The fabricator:

It's a small one man shop, he doesn't have time or want to be involved in marketing this. He is the only heavy industry in the area of mostly retired folks. His father who started the business died a couple of years ago and he is trying to stay in business, I'm just trying to help him keep his shop.

The name of the place is Smelter City, located in Cottonwood, AZ. He has no web site .

I could probably get a group price of around $50.00 if I got 10 orders :poke:

x2. The plastic ones are about $40, so around $50 for this would be awesome!

ok, that's 2.

I'm not the one making these, I havent talked to the fabricator about only 2 for $50.00 each.

I'll leave this for a while and see if we can get some more, I will probably need the money up front when I place the order. Just like anyplace else you pay for it when you order it.

I will see what size flat rate box it will fit in if any, if it does fit a flat rate box it will not be too much and the same whereever it is shipped in the US.

Looks like it will fit in a medium flat rate box...about $12.00 shipping in the USA.

Good deal! I'd post this over on DT too. Might get a few more hits. It's not breaking any vendor rules as long as the guy building them is not the one selling direct.

I forget what its called, but the hi lift first responder (yellow and red) has claw like post on all four corners instead of a continuous ridge that's its in contract with the ground. Have you given any thought to that. If you're in rocky territory the claw type bottom would allow more traction. Check out the high lift one, you'll see what I'm talking about.

If you look at the photos of the first respnder the base is about the same size as the regular base and it does have ridges the whole width of the base. If you want claws just cut the ridges of the channel wher you want to....

I think I'll just keep mine the way I made it.

I have a paypal acount that I used to get paid from the forest service when I was making signs for them. You can pay there by credit card if you want. I think you have to let me know your email address so I can send you an invoice. Or you can just send paypal to walowan@hotmail.com

After I get all the payments I will have the fabricator stark making these.

I hope a USPS money order will do. I don't do pay-pal. So, i will need your name & address to send it to. $62 right ???

On a side note: it would be easy to make your own "teeth" in the bottom 2 ridges with a grinder. East peasy.

I think I'll go ahead and have the fabricator start to make these now and not wait for the snail mail.
