I had an 07.5 when the 6.7 first came out. Didn't delete just added a bullydog and I was doing 19-21. How does emissions shit make it better when fuel consumption is higher. Dumb. Before deleted my 08 managed 16. Then after deletes I was over 20.

They really tightened the emissions standard on them after 08. The big issue with the diesel is it burns so hot it creates a shit ton of nox (oxides of nitrogen) because it's so efficient at creating heat energy however! Nox is really bad for the environment (been linked to acid rain :/) to combat it they use a shit to of dead air which cannot be combusted (egr) and to combat the soot diesels produce the particulate filters! Which appear to add more fuel to burn the soot out of it....:| and now urea / DEF. Because it seperated the nitrogen and oxygen in nox so it's clean Imagenewer diesels should be getting way better mileage because of the additional fluid however they don't appear to be getting that much better! I don't own one though so I unno :) all I know is urea is great but it plugs up urea injectors and is like salt on steroids when it dries extremely corrosive and crystallizes on itself like nuts! ( sorry to side track/derail!)

No worries on the derail. I just think for the price for a new truck ($50k+) it should get better mileage then a $4000 truck from the '70's

Yea it is very contradictory. The cummins since the late 90s has turned average mileage from 17-25mpg. Now with these newer trucks it keeps getting worse and fuel gets more expensive. The more you pay for a vehicle the worse mileage it gets lol. Works with all the automakers too. its not like they can't make better mileage. They just don't really have to. This gets even more complicated when we talk tier 4-5 emissions. I know more about the farm equipment side of it. Prior to this emissions shit you could operate a decent sized tractor at 6-7 gallons per hour. Now the same tractor with the same power but with emissions is 10-14 gallons per hour. And they cost 3x as much to buy as 10 years ago. Go figure

Well weight does factor In a bit but efficiency and engine design should well overcome the extra 1500lbs a crew cab has on a reg cab 12v!

Hate to say is but we have 2 second gen and 2 3rd gen in our little fleet here. 99 3500dw 6spd 6" skyjacker and 35" hankooks, 02 2500 auto stock height 35" toyo at2 extremes, 05 3500sw stock height 35" toyo at2 extremes, and 08 2500 on 37" hankooks. Not one of these trucks gets worse than 15mpg empty in fact the 05 got that pulling 24k stock trailer on a 700km trip. The 99 got 13mpg when the lift pump was failing. But all of these average 17-19mpg all the time. Each vehicle has a fuel log book so these are not guess answers. And this is using the U.S. mpg with the 3.78L/gal not the stupid garbage UK gallon canadian ads use (mostly Ford) to make mileage sound better at 4.54L/gal. I feel like my dad does as for him the golden years ended in the 70s for vehicles. For me it's now.

I know repair costs on BMW's are high!! So no worries from me on that!!

My 2005 cummins dually, I ran 35's on that. Could get up to 22 mpg on the highway. Towing was always in the low teens, at the worst.

I've really thought of getting a new dually with the 6.4 HEMI.... Just worried that it's too much truck for the motor.

I am playing with that idea too. Just the hemifever tune had me like "ooo this is nice" 100 more hp would be nicer though. And ebc brakes cause my stopping isn't that good lol

oooo I know but I've already dumped so much into this one and I know where it's been what it's done lol so I like it. If I do get a diesel it has to be a newer one and I am addicted to the rush of suspension testing and the parts for the 4.5 gen just aren't there yet... I do need more torque or something the motor has all the jam but it think traction control is still kicking in even though I have the abs fuses pulled!!

I gotta get my suspension fixed. Highway ride has been harsher than harsh lately. Big bumps are silky smooth but just frost heaves and ruts make your stomach churn. Then again my roads suck ass. When I get onto transcanada or other smoother roads it's not as bad. My shocks are half the issue if not more right now. And front springs.

Im enjoying this private thread you started for us 06.
Im gonna pull the shocks out soon. Been waiting for the ground to dry up. I don't have a garage on my yardsite that I can fit the truck into. The next quarter over there is a shop but most of my tools are here. So im just waitin. It's mud everywhere right now. Im hopimg it's just shocks but I think springs are holding me back too. I've done a ton of reading on springs and am really leaning on the thuren but im low on funds for toys right now. Besides im about to start commuting with my stealth right away so I won't think about it as much. For a bit.

You've ditched the swaybar already right? The perf. 2.0 are supposed to ride nice! ? Hmm. Well if you decide to switchback to another suspension id go all Thuren and go stage 2-3 2.5's and get stainless shafts see if he can give you a package deal and sell your Carli stuff packaged complete?! Would be an easier sale that way anyways. Coils and shocks. How's the nitrogen pressures on your shocks I've heard adjusting them down 50-80lbs when not heavy offroading is a lot nicer on the street!

I'm believing that the shock issues are mostly cold weather issues. The shocks on most trucks are not worked hard at 40 below. Most people will just do street driving. My grid roar to my home is horribly maintained and in winter can be like running baja. Then compound some 5-6" solid drifts across the road every 10 feet at 80-100kph and they covet a workout. Before they warm up. Thats why i would rather rebuild and revalue them myself. But carli has said i can send them back. 2 shock blew out their main seal back in November. They were only a few months old. They said to send the 2 to them and i asks if i could send all 4. They said yes. I just need to do it now. When they were new they were fantastic. And even now with large bumps and bumps they work fine. Its the little 1/2"-2" heaves every 30' down the highway. I still have no swaybar. The carli springs are really stiff though.

Hmmmm interesting. Can you request they install the cold weather fluid sage and Hrt designed in them this time? Chances are you will never see baja 40c temperatures and actually boiling your shock oil! ...?

I more just wan them to fix it and tell me the oil weight and their valving profile. And when they go bad again i can rebuild them my own way. I can get good shock oil from redline. I just want to know what weight they are using. But we shall see. Its just annoying. I went to this setup for a better than stock ride. Our 05 3500 stock springs and bilstein 5100s rides way better

I hear ya. I guess I've gotten used to the way mine rides it's firmer for sure but it's nice never bottoming and cornering good. It's weird small stuff like cracks in the road are just totally eliminated but medium sizes stuff Is more pronounced and big stuff is always a firm feeling but nice never touching the bumpstops on any road. I watched a 2011 duramax bottom hard on a concession down from me doing about 80kmh and I ramped up to 110kmh to warm the shocks up the cab never even moved just floats and stays level and responsive...

That right there is what I would expect from 5+ grand in suspension parts. But it's not what I have. I would love to have you take your truck on my morning commute and then drive mine. I know I'm not crazy. It's nasty. Yes the roads are bad. But isn't that why the carli parts? Carli originally said to me that to warranty I would have to purchase a new set of shocks. Which means my cost. My shipping. Me paying taxes and duties. And then my cost to ship them the old ones back. I was pretty concerned about doing that even though Dan assured me that I would be reimbursed. Well I've lost money on similar things before dealings with companies in the us. But to go out a couple grand again? So I suggested me just pulling them and I'll swap in the 5100s I have and send them to carli. I just need a decent day to do it. When im not working and it's not miserable outside. My thoughts were that if im going to be forced to spend the money going Carlis original way I might as well upgrade to the king shocks already. But my wife would kill me as I assured her that these 2.0s were the last set i would have to buy because they are rebuild able. And then they didn't last half a year. Guess I'm ranting now. Some days I wanna pull the truck apart and go back to stock the way it rides. And I do an hour commute each way nearly every day so it's a constant annoyance. And 2 hours a day with nothing better to do than think about how rough it is.
