Hey folks, have 2 sets of KC Gravity led’s, 6” Daylighters. One set is spread beam, the others are spot. These are being mounted on a Randy Ellis light bar over the winch. Also have a set Rigid D-SS pro’s. I plan on purchasing a set of the Rigid Radiance cubes. So here is where the opinion part comes in. Should I mount the spots in the middle and the spread on the outside for the best coverage, or the other way around? The SS pros I plan on putting in my warn rear bumper as auxiliary backup lights and the Radiance pods on Randy Ellis hood mounts. Would I be better off with the SS pods on the hood and a different light for the bumper? I know the radiance lights aren’t super bright, but like the idea of using just the blue backlight without the lights just for the cool factor lol. Thank you ahead of time for any help I can get.

Off road lights in the center. Driving lights to the outside of the off road lights, Fog lights down low.

Since you aren’t going high speed and you have lights picked out before you have placement figured out, I’d go with what the others suggest.

Not to knock you, but buying lights and then asking where to put them is a terrible approach. Lights serve a dedicated purpose. Color, intensity, lenses, placement are all chosen to fill a need after you determine the need.

Actually was just confirming what I figured on the big KC lights. The reason for the second question is because I am second guessing my plan for the radiance lights on the hood mounts. If they are truly useless for anything other than being able to use just the blue or that and the 15 watt light separately, I won’t get them. So I haven’t bought anything that won’t be used as I have planned all along. And so far as everyone agrees with the spots in the middle and wides on the outside, I made the correct choice. Not sure why double checking before mounting and wiring is a terrible approach?

I have 4 KCs on the RED bar as well. 2 spots in center and 2 wides on the outside very slightly angled out (deer avoidance/ditch lights). Spots on one switch and wides on another. I find that being able to turn the wides on by themselves in certain weather, mist, fog, snow can help vs hinder sometimes. But, scouts honor, I never turn them on on the road

Double checking for placement is a good idea. Buying lights and then asking where several different lights should go is a bad idea. That should be known before buying. Having multiple brands of lights on a truck and not knowing where to put them is a red flag. Lights are easy to dismiss as something easy and inconsequential, but driver fatigue and inability to differentiate objects are commonly ignored features of the color, lens, source, and placement of different lights.

No question where they are going. Have one set left to purchase for the hood. Thought that with the amount of experience here, instead of buying the last set and not being happy, would ask first. If anyone has experience with the 15 watt radiance lights, that’s who I’m hoping to here from, as so far everyone backed up what I had planned with the KC lights. Considering I have been debating this with myself for months and am now asking for help, not sure how you continue to imply that I’m dismissing the importance of them? If it’s suggested that I use the D-SS lights for the hood, then I will either get another set or maybe look into an even wider beam floodlight for the bumper.

I’m using a clear and amber fog in the factory fog housing wired to separate switches and spots on a-pillar mounts on a third switch. Pretty happy with the outcome.

Just have to be mindful of glare off the hood when you mount lights up there, it can make it very difficult to see clearly if you’re washing out the hood/foreground. I don’t have personal experience with the light you’re asking about up there as I mostly use Baja designs. Good luck with whatever you end up doing sir

Plus, in some states like PA for example, the regs are a little gray but has a statement about auxiliary lights above the headlights need to be covered on the road. So, for that reason, plus the hood glare potential I chose to stay away from anything up high, so as to not get any undue attention.

No hood lights or roof lights EVER!!! Center lights are long distance pencil beam, outters are for pattern and aimed slightly toward the ditch. Perfect for my use. I do search and rescue with my truck.

Bumper or lower, especially in snow. Any higher than that and the "star wars effect" makes the lights virtually useless.
