Added 37” BFG KO2s to my 2018

Wasn’t happy with the STT Pro 35’s I bought before. Great looking tire and I’m sure awesome off-road but not for me up here. They had some balancing issue and the truck pulled to the right a bit, but to be honest I didn’t try to rebalance either. I’m not blaming the tires. More-so myself for not trusting my gut and just running 37’s. I like the BFGs. They are an awesome snow and ice tire. Oh well. I like the white letter, and they came with them so they are getting used. Lol here’s a couple of pics. They do rub on the drivers side, on the sway bar at full lock.

I measured them and they came out just like they did on my JL Rubicon. About 1/2” smaller than other 37’s mounted on the vehicle. I actually wanted to try the Toyo ATII, after all my reading on them for a HD truck but they don’t come in a 37. I had my mind all made up.

 I’d sport the white letters too!

What do they measure without the weight of the truck on them?

Ya know I forgot to check. Lol. I never even thought about it. I will say that they are a 37. So they’re a big tire. There are larger and probably smaller but any 37 is a pretty big size. Until you look at a 40. Lol

A friend of mine has 40’s on his JKU and it’s amazing how they all look in pictures. Jeeps and these trucks make them look small.

Looks good. I have the STT Pro's right now in 37's and having the same balancing issues and pulling to the right. I have been back and forth with Discount Tire trying to get the balancing correct.

That’s really frustrating. Sorry your dealing with that. I was going to try and have a rebalance but I decided to just switch.

I actually just had Discount order me BFG KM3's in 37x12.50r17. I've been hearing that coopers are hit or miss.

How badly do these rub on the sway bar? Kinda torn on whether to get 35's or go to the 37's like you did... My truck is a stock 2018.

I’d go 35 unless you plan on changing your gearing

At full lock they rub the driver side. Not bad. It’s not really a worry to me. Also, BFGs are about 1/4 - 1/2” shorter than most other brands of tires so they fit a bit better. Coming from the Jeep world I have owned many different brands in 37s. The biggest 37 seem to be the MTR but don’t listen to this “true” size tire crap. There really isn’t a brand that is “true”. Most have there own ways of measurement. A 37 is a good sized tire no matter the brand. Pick the one you want and enjoy. 99% of tires are 1.5-2.0 shorter when mounted and loaded than what they advertise.

I’m not planning on changing the gearing. No real reason to. These trucks have never, and will never be fast. They will never feel fast. I’m at 7000 ft, losing quite a bit of horsepower and the change in feel was there, but not a large change. I installed the Tazer Ram and that fixed the shift points. Kind of feels like it did when I had 35’s on it now. I wouldn’t be afraid of 37’s at all. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t waste money installing 35’s when I’ll I would be doing is regretting it, looking at all the trucks on 37s. :poke:

37s on stock wheels will rub some at full lock. I ran through Moab like that, and it's fine I'm now on 37s with +18 offset with 0 rub. My biggest regret and waste of money was not going 37s right off the bat. You don't need to regear. You won't lose MPG except maybe start and stop MPG but your freeway MPG will increase. The biggest consideration of 35s vs 37s is where are you gonna put the 37 spare as it won't fit in stock location.

I've thought about that. I'd love to do a vertical mount on the bed cover, one one each edge next to the Ram boxes. I think if I elevated the tire about 2" off the bad the doors wold be fine. However the amount of torque a vertical 37 could generate off-road scares me. I'd rather not have it bend up the bed cover support frame. I'm guessing I'd need cross-braces and a fancier mount than just a ratchet strap around the tire.

In theory two 37s should fit on a rear bumper mount, as the truck is 79.x inches wide. I've just never seen one.

I should probably get a permanent feed from the rear camera to the rear-view mirror and stop worrying about rear visibility.

Yeah, mine is strapped in the bed for now until something better presents itself. I so rarely use the full bed it hasn't been an issue yet.
