Makes ya wonder if less weight translates into less strength...

Or - You get what you pay for
I don't think so the specs all seem to be very similar to the Toyo MT except the inflated section width showing .6" wider they're identical IF they turn out to be garbage my next set will be back to the Toyo because I've had good luck in the past with them on Wranglers.

Toyo specs Yokohama

I didn't think the Yokos were wider, I liked the Toyos because they were skinny. If someone made a reliable 37x10.5R17 I'd probably run it. Those Yokos do look nice in the tread and if they took cues from their other tires they would probably do better in the wet than the Toyos. Being in Portland I would like a better wet weather tire than the Toyos. They've done well almost all the time but there's been a few scenarios out of the blue where ABS kicked in on a stop that wasn't that hard or tires started spinning when I wasn't on the throttle too hard. I've noticed this on wet roads after rain stopped.

It says they're wider but are they measuring contact patch or are they measuring OAW. hard telling W/O them being here yet but when they arrive I'll measure contact patch and maybe we can compare to Mike key's TOYO's or whomever else wants to chime in.

what's the best image hosting site now that photobuckets being stupid? i'll get it all set up now so I can post when I get them and after install.

First thoughts: Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003

Post by Laramiewagon14 » Fri Nov 24, 2017 7:25 pm

So here are my thoughts

Keep in mind I’m on stock rims and I’m running a Thuren Overland 1.5” front

Really quite!! Which I see getting louder when they break in a bit. I only put about 60 miles on them driving home from the shop and to dinner with some friends.

Shop sucks. Couldn’t spin balance them “too big” after I called and told them what they were.

Had to bead balance them. It’s ok. Small shimmy and I mean very small @ 75 mph

Tires themselves. Look great but sadly only measure 36” even. No scrub on fender but it does hit my wonky mudflap due to it's weird bend. I’ll be hacking off the inner portion of the flap. To me that’s not a “clearance issue “ but poor engineering of the rubber flap without a metal reinforcement piece. BUT at max turn I hit the sway bar not enough to damage them again only really a 36” but it’s easy to avoid in normal situations. Cranking into a parking spot I scrubbed slightly

No protrusion stock rim helps I think

37" tires are not too big to spin balance. Lazy cheap shops will tell you that. One shop told me that years ago. I walked out and went somewhere else. Tires look good!

Their machine is the issue. Hood wouldn’t close. I was already pissed but the main reason I went there was for an alignment after the thuren suspension. I’ll ride it like this till spring then get them balanced again at TDI. they do semi trucks. But couldn’t get me in today and I’ll be gone for the rest of the week out of town.

Thanks man. I like them even though they’re almost BFG KO2 small

Do they measure 36” with the truck on them, or 36” before they are installed on the truck?

Depending on air pressure, I think it is pretty normal for a tire to loose an inch in height with an 8000 pound truck sitting on them.

My 35” bfg’s measured 33.5” with the jeep on them, but were more like 34.25” before they were mounted (still quite undersized in my mind).
