05 sway bar link recommendations

Post by Mule » Wed Jun 05, 2019 2:00 am

Thought it felt different...
M14 nut backed off the drivers side link on the top. Stopped by a hardware store and picked up two new flange nuts (spun the pass. side off to take in). Pass. side threaded on fine. Drivers side is rusty/stucky. On and holding but still loose....driveable, but it needs to be fixed.

Any recommendations for those links? Go OEM or is there another co that has better performance and still reasonably priced?

They’re expensive for links, either $120 or $220 each when I saw them. Are your joints blown out or are they just old?

Nut backed off the drivers side, threads were rusty and the new nut didn't want to go on nicely. Cammed out the [s]torx[/s] 7mm Allen head on the stud.
Standard 2500's sway bar ends are horizontal, links for those are a threaded rod with urethane bushings on either side of the bar.
Power wagon, being different (smartbar), is vertical.

Napa had their house-brand in stock at the depot, $44... not sure if they're /ea or /pair, but there's 2 on order. We'll see in a little bit.

Purchased and installed.
Of the stores I checked, none had "Power Wagon" in their online catalog - picking 4x4 and looking for the "Sway bar electronic disconnect" option gets you what you're looking for.
Moog K750757 got the most relevant results. Napa 265-3286, their "EL905X", is what I got. Looks exactly the same as OEM. $44/ea, under $100 out-the-door for both sides.

Quick and easy install. Didn't need to lift the truck, on the drivers side I did need to drop the pillow block for the sway bar to get the ratchet onto the upper nut/bolt.

I had one link that looked like that when I bought the truck. It snapped under articulation. Check out that the link joints have enough travel.
