05 PW Shock Lenghts

Post by Rob-Pod » Sun Oct 07, 2018 10:30 am

As I'm gearing up to do my swap, I'm getting different info.

Does any1 know the Actual Lengths for front n rear shocks?
I'm looking for both expanded n collapsed lengths please.

I'm looking into getting the Bilstein 5160 Res Shocks.

My mega cab (getting PW suspension, axles, & winch)
already has a (1.5") coil spacer and I will prolly do a
Shackle in the rear for another .75"/1" lift out back.

Thanx,
Rob

I don’t know the lengths off hand. 16.5” sounds familiar as a starting point but you’ll need to measure with the springs and bump stops removed and the axle sitting metal to metal.

Shock length is ALWAYS driven by the fully compressed dimension and whatever lift height you’re at has no bearing on shock length. You want the longest collapsed dimension you can get when the truck is at full bump. However much travel that gives you is going to vary based on what shock design you choose.

In my almost 3 years of owning my PW, I've Never taken it hardcore off roading.
I prolly wont with the MC Either. I'm trying to order my shocks Before I tear the
trucks apart, so I don't have to deal with doing it after putting it back together.

You have a pw? Worst case, just unbolt the lower bolt for one front shock and one back shock, and get the collapsed and extended measurements.

Any1 here Running Bilstein 5160s or even 5100s
on there PWs? Do you remember your Part #s?

I'd like to stay will Bilsteins, but I'd really like to have Res
Shocks. Who else makes Reservoir Shocks 98% for the look.
I'm not doing Raptor/Baja stuff with it, so no $2000+ sets.

Running 5100’s; can’t read the parts#,s. Lief Gregory , 2005 Power wagon forum oriniator, in his original specs listed the following info for our shocks: 5100 40 mm Bilstein nitrogen charged shocks. Front: 52121451AC ; Rear: 52121458AB. He noted these #, did not cross reference& another Un named member had suggested it may be BE 5 2459. Color code ‘HO’ ( yellow & blue). When had mine redone gave this info to our mechanic and he was able to find them but couldn’t,t find the receipt. Me be someone else has more info. Hope this helps!

These mopar numbers are not for a power wagon I checked with a dealer. Does anyone have the original bilstein part number that was stamped on the shocks? Mine are to rusted to read. I called bilstein directly and they had no listing for a power wagon. Any info and help would be appreciated.
