Thanks guys. I got some for the rears as I didn't have them coated. I'm guessing cerakote is fine on the fronts as its kinda the point of it besides the color.

I'd still put it on the fronts with Cerakote. Cheap insurance and they're easy to wrap, having remote reservoirs.

You can also buy that stuff in things other than clear if you wanted to get uber fancy.
They 3.0s are black cerakote body. Does that change if I need to cover them or not? Just remembered that...
No, you don’t need to wrap them. The shocks don’t rust in normal or semi-humid climates. Especially with the cerakote. There are downsides to the 3m wrap as well, it can trap moisture so you need to install it right.

Okay, i bought 3m black vynal s12 at Don's recommendation to wrap just the rears. It'll make em match and protect the steel body of the shock. It was 14 bucks so if it doesn't work out it's not the end of the world, lol.

Make sure the front Boogies are shoved as far away from the brake lines as possible, they sit CLOSE
I pushed my stage 5 kings last weekend and thr boogies never had an issue. I mounted the fronts as far rearward as possible.

You can find it on Amazon in rolls of various sizes. My Kings are still being birthed at the mothership, so I haven't figured out which size roll to get for the best/easiest/fewest seams coverage.

The shock body is steel, so it needs the clear wrap if you live in a corrosive environment (ocean spray, road salt), unless you like the look of rust spots on your shock bodies. The reservoirs are aluminum, so they don't need it but it won't hurt to wrap them too.
I bought a 12"x60" roll of 3m 8mil clear vinyl--> 8mil Vinyl

I did not get adventurous and order different colors, don't want a bro-mobile look, just keeping the salt monster from eating my investment. It's not too bad to apply (I have used vinyl wrap on other projects, so I am familiar with its peculiarities and how to apply it, but there's a bit of a learning curve) but working around the reservoir weld is a pain.

1. Clean with alcohol and clean towel
2. Make up a spray bottle of dish soap and water (they recommend distilled water, but that's only for exterior paint like a BRA to eliminate trapped mineral deposits under the film)
3. Spray down the shock body and your fingers
4. Cut an 8 1/4" section, flatten it out so you can work it
5. Peel off two corners along the same edge and peel off about 1/4 - 1/2 the backing
6. Start at the non-resvoir end start applying along the blue aluminum seal ring
7. Spray down the sheet of vinyl as you wrap, keep spaying the shock body cause the water will be running off the surface as you work (it's round ;) )
8. Pull gently taught as you wrap, immediately lift off and reapply if it's crooked, or if you're overlapping the blue seal ring, or there are huge bubbles in the surface
9. If 5-8 above is good, don't put too much pressure on the shock body with you hand or you'll slide the film off it's set position, and you should have about a 1/8" or less overlap
10. Get a vinyl squeegee (Credit card works ok) and gently start working the water from the middle--> out and in the direction you wrapped it, continue until all water is gone, then hit with a heat gun to get out any stubborn bubbles
11. measure from the edge of the vinyl to the edge of the uncovered portion of the body (should be around 1" or so) and cut a 8 1/4 x 1 1/4" section of vinyl and repeat steps 1-10, but you'll have to notch around the reservoir weld. Start the vinyl against one edge of the weld and work away from it around the shock till you come back to the other side of the weld, make about a 3/4" off-set cut in the vinyl in the direction of the wrap to fit around the weld.....DONE

I've never heard of anyone regretting a Thuren King 2.5" or bigger suspension. A lot of us have them here. Keep perusing the build section.

the largest questions you must ask yourself....how much offroading will you do? how fast do you want to go while doing it?

maybe a stage 2 front and 1 rear is best for mostly street. in saying that....
my stage 3 and 2 rides incredible for me, a little to chatty for my GF.
the steering control, body roll control, bump soaking ability, and composure is off the wall. go race any other stock configuration suspension truck around a figure 8 with thuren kings.
the only item i could point out and would look for improvement is the chatter of the road. low speed is too firm for a softy like a spouse would pretend to be, in my configuration. but this is necessary valving for rock climbing.
rock climbing and desert blasting are two different setups in my opinion...my setup is middle of the road.

i am beyond happy and this is the only setup i would recommend to anyone!!
shocks and springs with a trackbar first
then rear trackbar
then boogies
then truss.
then party

Just to be an advocate for 98% of users, don’t discount the smaller/cheaper/less-cool shocks. 2.5+ shocks are performance shocks, and are not ‘better’ in general. They are way way superior in a lot of ways, but for most people they are the wrong choice. I have 3.0/2.5-Bypass shocks and wish I had 2.0’s for the last 18 months because of how much road I’ve been driving.

The 3.0/2.5 combo on my truck is killer if you really want to jam. The bypasses are very nice for towing because they give so much control. But, you feel EVERY bump in the road.

In contrast, 2.0’s are more like Cadillac shocks and I really think most people would be better off looking at them or similar shocks.

Like PWJouster said, how much off-road do you do, and to add to it how aggressive do you want to run?

This is what I have been gathering. For my use I think I would be best to just simply start with the white body shocks. Im sure they work work just fine for me. Hell, I havent even had a complaint with the stock bills soooo...

The higher end ones seem like they are almost a bit troublesome, especially If you rarely need or use them to there potential.

Lots of good advice in these last few posts^^^^

Kings are a like most “high performance” parts. They add to the headache of owning the vehicle if you drive it normally and don’t really use them to their potential. It’s more stuff to maintain, another element of maintenance etc.

Kings tuned to be plush will ride better than a cheap shock but not by a wide enough margin to justify the cost and extra trouble associated with them for most people.

They only start to make sense if you push your truck in some way outside the realm of average use. They’re the bees knees if you want/need them though

so i sold my hellcat charger for the PW which used Drag radials every 3-4k miles in the rear....street only, daily driver...
thats how i drive everyday, so the entry level aftermarket would not last and my abuse would drive me towards a better tuned option.
if your going to go for it eventually, go for it first, temporary aftermarket parts are a waste.
