A New Low Point For Gender Identity
Lately I've noticed as I buy electrical supplies that the manufacturing companies are starting to refer to terminals and connectors with different terminology. Instead of referring to them as "male" or "female", now they're referring to them as a "plug" or a "socket". I can only assume that this is being done in an attempt to avoid incurring the wrath of those who are easily confused about such things and the lawsuits they feel compelled to file.

Male/Female are generally said with connectors with visible pins, that insert into the receptacle. Think connectors like a 120v wall plug, and most RF connectors.
Plug/Socket are used when the pins slide against each other - HDMI, USB. Can't really gender the pins male/female, so manufacturers and engineers define plug or socket by what plugs into what.
Then there's the genderless stuff like APC7 or PowerPoles.
When I see a spec sheet call out a "gender-fluid pansexual non-binary, pronouns xe/xir/xem" ... then we've got a problem.
