So, about the new Jeep Wrangler...

Post by 04Ram2500Hemi » Sat Jan 05, 2019 8:32 pm

I’ve always loved the Jeep Rubicon, but I’ve never been able to fit in them (at 6’8” I don’t fit in a lot). Well I was out goofing around today so I figured I would swing by the local Jeep/Dodge/Ram dealership to look at the new Wranger 2 door and 4 door. Well to my shock I fit in the front of the 2 and 4 door comfortably, and the back seat in the 4 door isn’t bad either. While I’m not going to give up my Power Wagon for one, the wife thought she might like to take a closer look at the four door model. I’m thinking the Sahara model with the Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD System would be awesome for her. What I don’t know is about the 2.0L motor. It has less horsepower, but it has more torque.

So... What are everybody’s thoughts on the new Wranger?

I thought this one would have been a fun daily driver for me.
(Pics are straight on my iPad, if they are crooked on your viewing device I can’t help that)

The 2.0l turbo is a hybrid and uses an electric motor and 48 volt battery pack to get you off the line until the gas motor takes over. Seems like a good concept for city driving but the batery pack hangs down pretty far underneath and seems like it woukd hang up on rocks and other off road obstacles.

I had a 2018 JLUR. It was a great Jeep. Just two too many doors and not enough towing. Lol. I did drive the turbo and at my altitude I would own one. Wow that little 2.0 runs circles around my V6. Great Jeep though. Definitely a step above the JK.
Nothing to worry about with getting stuck on anything in the 2 door. The 4 doors were belly draggers. That battery pack sits pretty flush to the bottom.
Here’s a pic on my JL I got rid of for the Wagon.
