Has anyone done that to their floor jack ? I was thinking of trying to make something like that, my driveway is so friggin' uneven, my floor jacks bottom out ALL the time.

Find which manufacturer makes the parts or make the brackets yourself. Those Pro Eagle jacks are an amalgamation of Harbor Freight jacks.

I'd be too afraid that SOB would roll around after its jacked up! :jawdrop:

Jacks with little wheels are hard to move around - but they typically stay put when they're jacked.
Jacks with big wheels move around easy - maybe too easy!

Well, that Pro Eagle jack is certainly HD, . That's a CTD.

Dont think it would go anywhere with e-brake on, or 4Lo 1st gear, providing you work on 1 end at a time.

I've actually been thinking of picking up this to keep in the truck. The Hi-Lift is useless for changing a tire with all I have going on now. I looked at the ProEagle, and I like them, but they are nearly 2x the cost of everyone else's aluminum jacks.

I dig the skid-plate style jack mounts. Maybe a little harder to move around in some scenarios but they take a lot of the sketchiness out of things. They work in sand and silt where nothing else does without some kind of plate.

Me too. It looks like a solid solution.

I've found a few companies that make a skid (for various prices) for the Harbor Freight jacks, but the specifics have left me hesitant so far to order from one of them. Also, every time I go into Harbor Freight (which I just did yesterday) they don't have the 2-ton jack. Ugh. That Jegs jack is 260 for the whole deal. So I dunno, it's slightly tempting considering the prices below. The HF 2-ton is $99.00 plus finding a skid plate... So..... Maybe it's not a bad deal.

For the money difference at HF, i'd get the 3 ton aluminum. You can catch them on sale for $159. They work well. I have 2 of the old style HF 3 ton steel floor jacks & 1 of the new 3 ton aluminum ones i like them all. One of the steel ones is 26 yrs old now, been rebuilt 3x (O-rings & jack oil) & still working like a champ. Those skids are definitely the ticket for dirt or sand.

I use the HF 2.5 ton jack for everything. It works ok, I’ve had a wheel rip off, cheap center pin. One thing to watch for on jacks of this style, regardless of manufacturer, is that they do not at all like to be loaded at an angle. You cannot jack the truck up on the steep angle of a truss or radius arm, gotta get the ground and lifting point as close to parallel as possible or the links can fold and the jack will fail in an instant

My 3 ton has been leaking for the last few years so I broke down and bought a 4 ton. I don't need an offroad floorjack.

Been thinking about this for on the truck to use in the field. I really liked the concept of the Arb hydraulic jack but I am not paying almost a grand for one:

Yes, still useless, how high do I have to go before I get a tire off the ground? The answer is too damn high. It is useless for changing a tire on these trucks. Might be useful for recovery.

I have a 4-ton steel floor jack. No need for a 3 ton in the truck. All I want is to safely lift an axle one side at a time.

Maybe you need a light-weight, cheap, 3-4 ton exhaust jack?

Semi related, I picked up a floor jack extension and it's made life a lot easier when working on lifted vehicles.

I don't remember where I got mine from but this is identical.

I believe Frank (Ben) has a pair of them. Forget who made them. But he had to send one back because the seam ripped. This was years ago. The old DT days.

I have an Uncle, retired GM worker & Vietnam Veteran, who has been screaming at me for 40 years to "BUY AMERICAN". When i bought my Power Wagon, he said "FINALLY, YOU BOUGHT AMERICAN", I said no, you got it all wrong, my Toyota is Made in America & my Dodge is Made in Mexico, lol  . Yet his garage & workshop are literally FILLED with stuff from Harbor Freight.......go figure. Floor jacks, hydraulic rams, grinders, 12" disc wheel, tools, etc.... .
