So, that works out to about 1 gun for every senator, 2 senators at the most !!! That we are paying for, with our tax dollars. Is there any idiot on this planet, that would have ANY respect, for someone who says they are in favor of new laws that restrict the ability of law abiding people to purchase certain firearms........(wait for it)..........WHILE THEY ARE BEING GUARDED BY ARMED SECURITY ??????

Criminals---meaning-----people who break the law and commit crime, which = new laws will not affect those that break the law....hence the name, criminals.

:wtf: :vomit:
The rules are for the rest of us plebes not them. Sadly, they don't see anything amiss with that at all. Common sense is just not in their toolbox.

The majority of firearms-related deaths are from suicides and domestic-disputes/gang violence, in fact, the majority of violence is between known-parties. There is relatively little random violence in the US, in-spite of the fact that we have almost as many guns as people!

I'll see if I can dig-up the number's later.

You're going to hear a lot of this bs in the near future. I'm under the belief they want to prohibit firearms purchases to anyone who has even had a misdemeanor conviction. There are more denials now than ever on NICS check for misdemeanor offenses and it's up to the individual to file an appeal and wait because there is a 2 year backlog of appeals. I've heard some horror stories. Eventually people will just give up.

There aren't many people who are teaching their children about the outdoors, hunting and fishing now days. They grow up wondering why anyone would even want or need a firearm.

This was on the news yesterday. 2 high schoolers in NJ got suspended for 5 days because their picture at a gun range holding guns showed up on social media. They was at the range with their parents. The NJ gun group is filing a lawsuit against the school.

My little guy is in 2nd Grade. They had a writing assignment this past week. The topics for these are always touchy feely. The latest one was answer the question: "What makes you feel safe?"

I am sure that there were lots of cute little responses. What does he write? "Building rifles with my dad."

Currently waiting to be summoned to the principal's office for a little discussion.

I have already said this, but....when my daughter was in 6th grade, they had to do a report on "anything they wanted", read it in front of the class & answer questions from teacher & classmates. My daughter chose the 2nd Amendment & gun laws. Her teacher WARNED HER THAT SHE WAS ANTI 2nd Amendment, bigtime. I talked to her about it & told her the possible consequences. It was an awesome 4 page report (front & back). When it came time for questions, the teacher absolutely grilled her. I told her to remain calm & answer precisely. Teacher said guns only do 1 thing---kill people. Daughter said....Not true, my Dad's gun saved his life 1 time, without even firing a shot & if it was not for my Dad's gun, I would not be here at all giving this report. Guns protect women from a larger threat. Guns win wars & give Liberty. Teacher said guns are dangerous. Daughter said yes & no....like MANY things that are not handled properly..by untrained people..but....you can load a gun, put a round in the chamber, take the safety off, set it on a table & it will not shoot anyone-----until a PERSON picks it up & pulls the trigger. Knives kill people, hammers kill people yet no one goes after them. She also said more people & kids are killed by cars than guns every year ---yet no one goes after cars. Finally, my daughter said "the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY AMENDMENT that keeps all the others from being taken away from us. Once that is gone, there is no way to keep them from taking the rest away.

.

.

.

She got an A+ & teacher made it a point to talk to me about her report. She said my daughter changed her mind & that I should be proud. I told her I was VERY proud of her.

Fast forward.......she just quit the Police Academy. Ugh, her choice. She said her heart just wasn't in it any more. Can't say that I am mad as this is the worse time to be a Police Officer. She is back in College (already has her 4 year degree) & working on her Masters degree.

Stack is only partially correct. We have a problem with criminals and crazies in this country, regardless of their choice of weapon. Best current example is the Austin bombings. Aside from that, Stack is a fool.

I am so sick of hearing people who know NOTHING about guns or gun laws, give me a lecture on them.

Most common ones i hear are:

There is simply no need for automatic guns !!! My response------Ahhh, the NFA was passed in 1934 and automatic guns have been restricted ever since. Then comes a look of confusion from them, so I say: You must mean semi-automatic guns ? Then I get a hesitant - yeah, that's what i meant. Well then, I say, you mean revolvers should be banned too, right ? Then they are totally confused. Think about it i say, if you squeeze the trigger on a revolver, it goes bang, if you squeeze it again, it goes bang....x how ever many shot it is. A "semi-automatic" pistol....goes bang when you pull the trigger, if you squeeze it again, it goes bang....x how ever many rounds are in the magazine. Pretty much the same thing right ? Only difference is that one automatically ejects the empty case. By this time, they are usually so confused, they either walk away or get so mad they start making even less sense.

No one hunts with an assault rifle. My response--------Ahhhh, yes, they do. The VERY DAY our Governor Andrew Cuomo was on National tv, screaming "no one hunts deer with an assault rifle", I watched an Alaska State Trooper put down a HUGE moose with his AR-15, on the tv show Alaska State Troopers. He later said that an AR-15 won't bring down a deer-----yet it will kill an animal that is 10x bigger ???

The 2nd Amendment was meant for the military. -------Ahhhhh, WE WERE THE MILITARY back then. And, we would be again if something catastrophic happened to our Military. But not if our guns were all made illegal & taken away. I think some wise person said (although many say it is unsubstantiated & bogus) "You can not invade the mainland United States, because there is a rifle behind every blade of grass." Smart man IMHO. Imagine if that changed.....scary.

When someone is at my house & they start in on this subject, I have shown them my sons single shot, Harrington & Richardson & ask them------do you think this should be illegal ? The answer is always no. I laugh at them. But you think an AR-15 should be illegal ? They say YES.  I laugh even harder & tell them------Ahhhh, they shoot the EXACT SAME CARTRIDGE/BULLET !!!!!

It's been said, ad infinitum, but guns aren't the problem. Making it harder to get a firearm won't discourage the types of people who commit these atrocities, they will simply use another means. Our federal firearms laws in the US are, for the most part, pretty "sensible" and "common sense".

The deadliest domestic attack on US soil aside from 9/11 was and still is the Oklahoma City Bombing which: "killed 168 people (including fifteen children), injured more than 680 others, and destroyed one-third of the building.". That amount of carnage is simply not possible to inflict with firearms.

The unspoken tragedy here, is that after all of the these killing-sprees, our elected representatives seemingly can't be bothered to rub two brain cells together, make an effort to understand why these tragedy's occur and actually do something meaningful. Not surprisingly, there are actual experts out there (shocking, right?) who actually have a pretty good idea of what's going on; but instead, we ignore sensible, nuanced conversation for the usual nonsensical blather about "nobody needs 30-magazine heat seeking assault bullets" and "arm all the teachers".
