Sled was mocking me at the office...
Ditched out early... glad I restocked my USB drive with some fresh podcasts...
Up to the mountains saturday morning. Quick racers meeting, wait around for a while... finally on the starting line around noon.
WFO for a while
Work my way to the front of the pack
and then ... that corner... came up a little fast...
there goes my lead...
parts are still there sorta, holding on well enough, pull the sled back and get it pointed the right direction again...
it's really hard to turn only using one ski...
Flew the left ski just over the snow... GPS says I hit ~50m/h on the road, on one ski...
No "DNF" for me today.
A lot of riders came back on the tail end of a tow rope. One exploded rear axle, couple of blown belts, a few seized-up motors, one arm/collarbone.
Race track was shorter than usual; 14-mile loop in a harescramble format, vs. the typical cross-country race against the clock. Because of that, a lot of guys (myself included) were treating it more like a snocross race, pushing harder and not pacing themselves through the race to get that spot on the podium.
Things were going great until...
Re: Things were going great until...
Glad you’re not hurt man! But as they say, a bad day racing is better than a good day at work! Kicks ass you didn’t DNF man, one ski at 50 indicates a surplus of balls or a lack of brains lol.

Hmm. These are the tougher-than-standard shocks - my Assault's heavier than the Pro, since things are beefed up a little bit for racing.
Assault keeps the chaincase instead of the lighter-weight belt drive, tunnel has some additional bracing, different approach angle on the track, much heavier shock shafts on adjustable needle shocks...
My shock guy says it's fixable. Shameless plug: http://www.gasshockrepair.com/ - he's done a lot of work for me on all my sleds and i've been real happy with his work.
Upper A-arm. Tree was about that big...
Lower
Tie rod's done too
Amazingly, everything else looks OK. A little bit of tweakage but I should be able to shim clutches straight again.
A crack in the bulkhead typically totals the machine. I'm not finding any cracks.
this tiny-ass garage though. And the neighbors that smoke in their garage right next to mine, making mine smell like an ash tray.
(I'm tempted to fire up my sled and fog out the garage when they start doing that.)

If you want to play, you got to pay.................................................and I'm still paying.
I take it you live in a town house or something like that.

Well fawk yes
No DNF for the win! Years of motocross under my belt, and very few DNF's... they suck!

For now, yeah. Hopefully only for a few more months. I'm over this place, the neighbors, the HOA... list goes on and on.
No, for the hours and hours of driving I find myself doing all winter long.

Town houses. Model day version of old duplex patch houses. In 50 years, they'll look almost the same.Mule wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 10:32 pmFor now, yeah. Hopefully only for a few more months.
