Buffalo auto show.......

Post by TwinStick » Fri Feb 09, 2018 7:40 pm

So, what a HUGE disappointment that was. I told a FCA spokesperson "shame on you guys." He asked what i meant by that. I told him that I have been here 2x in 10 years & there was no Power Wagon either time. :wtf: It is your "PREMIERE" truck ----Epic Fail, IMHO. No new Jeep Rubicon---Epic Fail, IMHO. I then asked him if there was anyone here that was high on the food chain of FCA. He said yes, there was. He went to get him. I patiently waited. He came back, we shook hands & I explained that I am a 3rd Gen Power Wagon owner, & LOVE my truck. I also said I would like to get another one some day---as would many others---EXCEPT for all the electronic nannies they put on them. I told him it makes a super off-road truck, really crappy off road. I talked about the ABS/wheel speed sensor getting ripped off/broken = no more 4wd. He had no idea. Talked about traction control, I told him 4wd & the lockers ARE the traction control ! I told him that Hill decent control is called a brake pedal & 1st gear. I told him to PLEASE tell them to STOP with all the electronic nannies. I told him if you HAVE to have them by Law, then just make them all disengage when you shift into 4Hi or 4Lo. I also said that, since you took the G-56 manual transmission away, then you should make the auto's able to be held in any gear-up to redline, without the trans shifting anyways-thinking it knows better. Also said they should have a 10-speed, with ratios much closer to the G-56---BUT with only 1 overdrive. I can'r remember his title, hell, I can't even remember his name. But it sure made me feel good to be able to talk to someone who was above "dealer level" anyways. They said they were going to pass my Phone # along to someone in the Truck division & I should be getting a call. We'll see about that.

I also shamed Ford---no Ranger, no Ranger Raptor. Same for Subaru, all they had were 50th Anniversary editions---all the same color, no new Ascent. Pretty lame auto show IMHO. & Yeah, I know......... :nopics:

There was a Chevy ZR2 Crew Cab w/2.8L DuraMax. It was all black. Not a fan of all black trucks. I adjusted the front seats to where they were comfortable for me, then climbed in the back. My knees were hitting the back of the front seat---I am 5'6". $50,320'

100th Anniversary Silverado 1/2 ton---$70,994

2500HD Duramax---$74,990.

I’ve been to smaller auto shows already and feel the same way. Just stuff local dealers have on the lot, nothing special. They only bring cool stuff to bigger cities. As for your conversation, i hope that he was listening. But I honestly feel he probably is unable to do anything signifigant to make a differance. They just want to sell brown paper cars.

Problems I don't have. The only nanny that bothers me offroad is the TPMS warning light. I think some of you complain about nannies more than you actually wheel your trucks offroad. :poke:

Can't be perfect without a panty hook. Can get close, though.

Seriously, why didn't they just put the 6.4 in the 3G and call it good?

Actually, FCA has contacted me several times for feedback and improvement ideas on the Power Wagon and Ram Trucks in general.
I have provided a wealth of constructive feedback ideas each time.

Sorry Twin, I wouldn't want to give up the two overdrive gears - most of the time at highway speed the truck is in an overdrive - even towing a trailer.
The 6.4 certainly has enough lower rpm torque to make use of the overdrives - perhaps this is not the case with the 5.7. Remember, I had a 2013 PW briefly...

Many of the current Nanny features are a result of government mandates - If people don't like them, and they want a change, then they need to beat up on the government and not FCA. Expect more to come - like crash avoidance, lane departure warning, etc :D

Here was their first solicitation for feedback, and then more followed...
