So, it seems that our neighborhood had been inundated by a mass influx of Grackle's in the last week. Every single day twice a day, our driveway is used as a landing strip for their bird shit. Our vehicles are the collateral damage. So bad & so much, that it hard not to step in it & bring it in the house on your shoes. Unsanitary to be sure.

So, can't discharge firearms within the Village limits. Fireworks are illegal here as well.

So, my question is: Lasers, do they work & has anyone tried them ? There are vids on youtube. Some seem to work better than others. The cheapest pro-grade one is $1500 & i am sure in NY, you would need a license for one. Not looking at those. Looking at the green & red 100mw ones for around $20 or less, each. What say you fellow Wagoneer's ? Anyone try them & do they work ?

Pellet gun, BB gun, air soft gun. Crack open a house widow close to them. Play sniper.

Rusty's on the right path... Airsoft is gonna be your best bet. Pellet guns are illegal in most towns in NY within a certain distance of a residence. Nerf or airsoft would be best.

FYI, I sell hardware to a lot of heavy industry, refuse being one of them. They deal with birds all the time. The one plant actually has 2 falconers that bring the birds in multiple times per week to try to scare away the seagulls. They both have dogs as well. The dogs chase them up, the falcons scare them away... Kind of. It lasts about as long as they're there.

Since you don't have a food source, scaring them away a few times might be enough to get them to find some other sucker to crap on.

Kites work too, for a little while.

Get some bear spray, and spray their asses. Just make sure you are up wind when you do it.

Yeah, no guns here for safety reasons & it is the law. No pellet or BB guns. no air rifles. Pepper spray would not work either. They are 40'+ up in the trees. Neighbors on both sides and behind us. Thats why i was thinking the handheld lasers would be the best thing. My 12 Ga. would be fast & simple but would put me in jail & i would lose my pistol permit as a result. It is very frustrating.

Oh, and you should go camping while you do this. Way too annoying to stick around.

Just some random thoughts:
•Slingshot.
•Blowgun with poison darts.
•Poison bird food.
•Look up "bird trap" on Youtube and Ebay. (interesting)
•Tree climbing cats with a bad attitude.
•Set up a Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom rocket propelled net, tell your neighbors your tagging them to monitor their migration habits, then stuff them all into burlap sacks, haul them to the capitol building in Albany and turn them loose to see how the government handles the mess. (this might take a while)

I still think a .22 with a silencer and sub-sonic loads from a up stairs window is the best bet. After you shoot them. Pick them up after dark. Then drop them off at city hall after midnight.
