Jeep Grand Cherokee Trail Hawk ???

Post by TwinStick » Sat Mar 11, 2017 7:11 pm

Does anyone know the real deal with these Jeeps ? Meaning: It (the Jeep website) let me build one on their website with the 3.0L Eco Diesel, but when i searched local inventory, it did not give me the choice of the Eco Diesel with the Trail Hawk. So, I'm confused. This would be a viable option to pull our camper once in a while, yet still have a 600-700 mile range when empty, and is a fairly capable vehicle in stock form. Looking for answers, please help.

I think you can build them, but they're in super short order. We researched it a bit too. I was thinking a Grand Cherokee might make a nice family car that can tackle some easy stuff for camping. When I don't want to drag out the 2500.

I have a '13 GC TrailHawk. They only made it year. I was surprised that they are coming out again for 2017. They made a limited number in '13. I was lucky to get one. Might be the same thing for '17. I just built a '17 TrailHawk with the 3.0 liter diesel on line for $51,075. The diesel will be late delivery, meaning after May/June. No dealer with have one until then. I paid $45,000 for mine. Have 60,000 mile on it, plus another 10,000 plus miles being towed behind the motorhome.

Rusty, is yours a diesel ? I built one too, but when I searched inventory, the parameters would not even let me put the diesel in the Trail Hawk. I was just curious. So, do you think this is gonna be another "YES THEY MAKE IT BUT NO WE CAN'T GET YOU ONE" from the dealers/sales people ??? They had 1 eco diesel 1500 since they came out & that's it. I did test drive it & liked it, but to this day, they only had 1. They said to me "we just can't get them." :wtf: kind of bullshit is that ? Sales woman said everybody has been asking for them, but they just can't get them. Are the auto companies doing so good that they can say fuck the customer, they take what we give them ? That's the way it was in Communist East Berlin, when i was there during the cold war in 1981 !!! :wtf: I read 1.5 years ago that FCA was going to work 3 shifts making the eco diesel because of high demand, yet none are to be found or heard of around here. They are like unicorns---everyone has heard of them, but no one has seen one.

Mine is a 5.7 Hemi. They only had the V6, and Hemi as options in '13. The 3.0 liter diesels are having emission problems. FCA got caught like VW. Doctoring the ECU's. So it might be awhile before the 3.0 diesels are released.

I completely forgot about the emissions gate. I know they had to put a pause on EcoDiesel sales in the 1500 model because of it. Likely effecting Jeep and any others too.

How do you like the Hemi btw? I've been eyeballing a few loaded out Overlands and Limiteds. If I could convince the wife, I almost think I'd buy the SRT. But I have enough toys.

You can buy it. Just got to wait for it. :( Have an idea that the new CG TrailHawks will be a low volume model like the '13 models. We love ours. It's comfortable enough to do cross country trips, and to take it on some trails in Co. Ours came standard with rock rails. On the '17, they are an option.
