Very nice i picked up a model 12 with a vortex viper i still need to ring it out but i'm looking forward to it. The caliber has a lot of functionality and potential.

If you were closer, you could borrow mine. Nothing fancy but it does work good. Mine is this one: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/347174 ... oting-rest

My long range rifle: http://www.thespecialistsltd.com/savage ... p-tactical But mine has a flash suppressor/muzzle brake on the end and a fluted barrel.

The scope: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/291695 ... icle-matte

Love your new rifle. I am really wanting to build a 6 mm of some flavor and 300 Win Mag at some point.

Just finished this guy in the late fall. Just in time to zero and take it deer hunting. I have only been able to shoot this out to 500 so far but it is a blast.

The ONLY reason I have that rifle & scope is because with the stroke of a pen by the Governor of NY, my http://www.cabelas.com/product/SPRINGFI ... 954905.uts became illegal over night, unless you registered it. I refuse to register long guns. They are not concealable. So, I traded it in on my current set up. Even my wife said :wtf: . Shoots the same round & if anything, my new set up is even more "deadly" than the one they outlawed. That one was good to around 100-150 yards. This one can reach WAY out there & is way more accurate than the old. That's what happens when non-gun people make gun laws. The old set up sure "looked scarier" though !

We are going in the right direction in PA. They just finally approved semi auto to hunt big game here so we'll be able to hunt with the fun stuff next November. I live in mortal fear that enough Philly/Pittsburgh legislators will get control of our State Legislature to take us the way of NY/NJ. They moan and groan about how "backward" we are every year.

I feel for you guys. I think we would have to seriously consider moving if that happened here. Selling stuff off would be nightmare.

The semi-auto legal now. BUT the Game Commission still hasn't decided on what type (style) of semi it will allow. A hearing is coming up shortly. One guy on the Commission is against the AR, AK type rifles.

Yup. Good ole Pennsyltucky.

One of my son's football coaches is a Game Officer (what do they call them now, Conservation Officer or something like that) he says it is all but a done deal. They have the info coming out to train on enforcement, etc. I have not ordered the barrel for my new upper yet just in case the hearing does not go our way but I am pretty optimistic. They already drafted the rules and are supposed to vote final approval at the meeting March 27-28.

New Rules from the proposal now:

Semiautomatic rifles in .22 caliber or less that propel single-projectile ammunition and semiautomatic shotguns 10 gauge or smaller propelling ammunition not larger than No. 4 lead – also No. 2 steel or No. 4 composition or alloy – would be legal firearms arms for small-game seasons under a regulation preliminarily approved by the Board of Game Commissioners.

Semiautomatic firearms that propel single-projectile ammunition also would be legal sporting arms for woodchucks and furbearers. There is no caliber restriction for woodchucks or furbearers.

For big game, semiautomatic centerfire rifles and shotguns would be legal sporting arms.

Full-metal-jacket ammunition would continue to be prohibited for deer, bear and elk hunting.

Semiautomatics would be legal in seasons in which modern firearms can be used to take deer, black bears, elk and fall turkeys.

Air-guns would be legal for small game in calibers from .177 to .22 that propel single-projectile pellets or bullets, under the regulatory changes preliminarily approved by the Board of Game Commissioners.

For woodchucks and furbearers, air-guns must be at least .22 caliber and propel a single-projectile pellet or bullet. BB ammunition is not authorized for small game, furbearers or woodchucks."

Sorry w2dodge, we kinda hijacked here. We can take this to a new thread if you want.

The one commissioner doesn't want rifles like the AR, AK. A M1A would be ok in his view.

I had no choice at that time. I had to either register it or trade that gun in or risk loosing my job. Being caught with an "illegal firearm" would have meant "instant termination" from my employer. Even if it was at the range, or hunting. If we get "charged with" a crime, automatic termination. We DO NOT have to be found guilty. Even if it is dismissed because someone lied---don't matter. We have had 3 Officers fired because their wifes wanted a divorce & their lawyer mentioned "It would look favorable for you if there was some kind of abuse going on" !!! Can you believe that shit. 2 were found not guilty & the 3rd admitted she lied & made it up---yet they would not press charges for filing a false report. That is one of the MANY reasons I could not wait to retire. They violate our Constitutional & Civil Rights all the time & get away with it, because we need the job. :wtf:

I still think that unless your mags are less than 2.90" you should go with 243/260. The Creedmore is pretty great in gas guns and AICS mags but short throated bolt guns running factory Winchester, Remington, and Tikka mags don't have the same COL limitations. I built a custom 243 a few years ago and I'm getting 3050fps with 105gr Bergers out of a 20" barrel without any pressure (I backed it down from 3200fps where pressure started to show). I challenge the 6 Creedmore and 6x47L shooters to duplicate that velocity without pressure signs. It all comes down to drop past 600 yards and with my current 6mm I can go back to less expensive and lighter weight 30mm tube optics because I only need about 7 MILs of elevation to get out to 1K yards.

That's awesome reloader guy!!! I had nearly identical results with the 105 in 243! Completely underrated round for long range. I built a 243 AI to push the 115 DTACs to 3200 but I ended up using 105s as I had trouble finding a supply of 115s. I sold that rifle to my dad and am currently building a 7mm SAUM in a long action with the plan to use Bergers new 195g EOL pushed to 3000+/- long action cadex chassis. I'm necking down nosler 300SAUM brass and once I get the bullets I'm sending dimensions to pacific tool and gauge for a long throated reamer to keep jump around .020 and keep the bullet seated as long as possible with just enough bearing surface to keep it straight. I'm really excited about it. I've built a ton of conventional caliber builds and a few wildcats. I debated the 6.5 and it's a great caliber but never fit my needs. Here's a pic of a 308 with 168gr Berger next to a 7mm SAUM with a 165gr Berger for comparison

I'm building a new reloading bench now. Need more room. :o

I'm using Berger 105gr hunting bullets in my BDL .243. For best accuracy in my gun. I have to seat the bullets .020" from the lands. Velocity is around 2990 fps. I shot it out to 600 yards so far.

Nice rusty!!! If your able to hold .75moa or better to 600 then getting to 1000 will be easy for you. The 105s buck the wind well

For a reloading bench I got one of these
https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.46-i ... 82125.html
But in a 60". Nice thing it's lockable and can store a couple full sized rifles or ar's in the top drawer.
I bolted a side panel and put my press on it. I might get a second cause this ones full lol
