I wish they would publish load ratings - looks only get you so far...
It would be hard to beat the strength of our OEM wheels.

yeah, low pressure cast...what does that mean in comparison to strength?Bill2014 wrote:I wish they would publish load ratings - looks only get you so far...

Rusty, I agree, but it's hard when you can't afford beadlocks & live in a state where they HAVE to say DOT Approved on them or risk tickets every time you drive the truck.
I just want something that looks good & is 1 ton truck rated. I run 2 different sets of tires. Winter & summer. I HATE the Atlas winter rims i have now. I can actually feel them flex in hard turns. Those look much stronger than the 6 thin spokes on my Atlas. I bought them cause they were cheap. I had them on last truck for 4 winters & this truck for 9 winters, so they don't owe me anything.
Spoke to a guy at the gas station who just got a ticket for his LED light bar (54" curved, mounted just above the windshield glass), I asked if he had them turned on while on the road. He said no, got pulled over for speeding & saw he didn't have the lens covered while driving on the road. So, yeah, it is a reality around me, to think you will get a ticket for beadlocks that don't actually say DOT Approved on them.

I have these on my PW. http://centerlinewheels.com/wheels_deta ... sw_id=1079
They're rotary forged. http://centerlinewheels.com/technology.php
They're rated at 3200 lb. load rating per wheel w/ 44" max tire diameter.
Specs are 17x9 with 5.25" back spacing.

Re: Nice looking rim
May as well go beadlock. I believe carrying two spare wheels and tires is a better alternative to using expensive wheels all around. I would rather have good cast wheels and two spares than good beadlock wheels and one spare. Cost-wise they are comparable. Forged always takes the win of the cost is reasonable, but they tend to be much more expensive.

Most cast wheels are rated between 3200 and 3600 lbs. The problem is they break instead of bending like a forged wheel.

What? You cracked a Centerline wheel? Or a cast wheel. I've killed cast wheels on my '76 cheby.Reloaderguy wrote:I cracked one of those on my Dakota.RustyPW wrote:I have these on my PW. http://centerlinewheels.com/wheels_deta ... sw_id=1079

Love my stock rims too. Don't plan on getting rid of them, ever. They have never seen a winter. Just needing something better than those Atlas wheels i have now for winter.
must be nice to be able to pay that ($1425.00 each) for a rim !

Re: Nice looking rim
I cracked that specific Centerline wheel. To be fair, I think it was a defect. Centerline replaced the wheel. My point was that forged wheels are not panacea, if strength is a concern off road beadlocks should be used.RustyPW wrote:What? You cracked a Centerline wheel? Or a cast wheel. I sold my forged OE wheels and am now running cast. In a couple of years I'll buy beadlocks.

Re: Nice looking rim
If I got rims again. It would be bed locks.
I've beat a couple of stock PW rims round again. Ask Peter. He bent a stock PW rim up pretty good. Eric too.
