High perf. pads work better at higher temps. You need to get some heat into them for better braking. Being winter, you may not feel what you want. I have a set of pads that I use for the track on my Nismo. On the street with them. I have great pedal, but poor braking. On the track, I can put your eyeballs on the windshield with them.

I'll try to put some heat into them. During break in they felt like they faded fast, but I'm not sure how they're supposed to feel that earl on so I'll ignore that time. I haven't driven them hard to get them hot yet. Next time I'm out in the desert I will test that theory. I specifically chose these over the Hawk Super Duty pads because I understood the Super Duties had to heat up to work well (towing pads), and I wanted something more streetable so I chose the Powerstops.

I use EBC Yellowstuff pads on my PW, GC, and are my street pads on my Nismo. The track pads on my Nismo are Carbotech XP12 front and XP10 rear.

I wanted to get the EBC Yellowstuff but they were about $140 for front pads and my Powerstops were about $75 I think. Wasn't worth it to me. Oops.

Me too. Didn't seem worth it. I just wish my calipers didn't start sticking & wear them out so soon.

Nope, doing the brakes first. They need to be done. When money allows i will.

It might be cheaper in the long run to check them when you do the brakes. Otherwise, you may just wear your pads right out again.

Also, My Ariens 1336 has been in the shop for going on the 4th week ! They are waiting for parts too---for a month ? What in the sam hell is going on here in America ?
Did the people who make ammunition buy Power Stop & Ariens ???

I just do NOT understand this. What would I do if I was still working ? The conversation would go like this: "Sorry, I just can't make it to work for a month or 2 because I am waiting on parts." Yeahhhh, don't bother coming in, your fired, your problem is now solved---CLICK !" :doh: :wtf:

Your wait is nothing. I worked for a turbo-machinery manufacturer, and then for a utility. If you needed a part that was a forging. Figure on waiting 18 to 36 months for the part. Unless you put up big bucks to jump line. You would order the part from us. We would order the forging (18 to 36 months). We then would machine the forging (1 to 2 months). Assemble everything (1 to 6 weeks). Than ship it (1 week to 2 months). I've been on both sides of this. But as a consumer. It sucks to wait as long as you.

FINALLY---got my snowblower back. The part that was broke, was still looking fine from above, the piece of it that broke was laying on the bottom of the belly pan/tray. The bottom part of it broke. Weird. They said they never seen that break either. Snowblower is working like a champ again ! :rockon:


Now, just still waiting on my brake calipers. Someone told me that the calipers are made in Batavia NY ? Not sure how true this is but damn, that's like 10 minutes from me.

Mine worked great till the calipers started sticking. Wore the rotors out quickly. I called Summit Racing today & complained. She looked them up & said they are supposed to be delivered to me tomorrow (my calipers). I hope so. I ordered them on Dec 1st, so almost 2 months. That is just ridiculous.

The rotors do make a big difference. According to people that know, the drilled & slotted rotors are supposed to lower temps by 180*F. That is a lot. Also supposed to be more resistant to fade. I feel there was a 20-30% improvement over my stock brakes. They say they need the heat to cure the bonding agent in the pads, that's the reason for the "break-in procedure." I think the unbalanced feel could be because the Z36 pads bite more. I bought the calipers because mine were sticking. This damn salt in Western NY screws everything up. Not just my truck either. Daughters new Subaru XV Crosstrek needed new front calipers before 30k, they replaced them under warranty. The salt just destroys the metal & they rust up. Keep an eye on your drilled rotors. They like to crack at the drill hole in high heat braking. Very few run them on the track anymore.

Yup, thanks Rusty, I have also read that. If these don't hold up, then it looks like either regular or just slotted will go back on. (after these are gone)

Calipers finally arrived. Weather sucks, so it's going in on Tuesday for the brake job.

Woot woot! Tell us how it all goes! By the way I'm happier with my Z36 pads now. I think they needed more breaking in or something along those lines. They still engage immediately but now the braking is a little better than before. It feels more balanced as well, even though our weather has been colder than when I installed them. And they get fun when you get them toasty :thumbsup:

Brakes are done. New rotors, pads & calipers & fluid. Truck stops great again. D-side rear was the main culprit. Metal on metal. He said he was surprised the pad didn't just fall off. Hmmmmm.............


On a side note, I inspected my rotors as much as i could (magnifying glasses and a handheld magnifying glass... :thppt: ) and I found no cracks around any of the drilled holes. I checked all 4, front and back. I think I remember reading that the ones that were cracking were NOT chamfered. My old ones were chamfered and so are my new ones.
