The boobs over at The Fast Lane Truck made a 13-minute video and got the Ram reps to give some details. Ram knows they aren't going to build it, and were trying really hard not to give anything for the press to latch onto. They're not calling it Raptor competition. They're not calling it a Hellcat. Cramming the 6.2L and supercharger under the hood required them to cut the firewall back. The front end has longer A-arms (easy enough to put on production trucks), but the rear end is probably significantly different enough from the stock 1500 setup that it won't be feasible for a factory production run.

This is a cool truck to look at, and will probably make some more appearances at media events, but that's the last we'll ever see of it.

I agree most concepts never see production but I think those 2 examples were pretty vast departures from anything currently in production. Also, when those 2 came out the market for single cab trucks was shrinking which also did not help potential sales. I don't think dodge ever really intended for those 2 to see production. However, I don't think they ever really intended to produce the Plymouth Prowler either but with enough excitement I think they would be willing to give even a pretty radical design the green light.

I feel the TRX has a far better chance to see production than a lot of concepts because it is so closely tied to a truck that is already in production. Most of the modifications they made are almost bolt on and with the exception of fitting that engine and redesigning the firewall, it could theoretically be manufactured in the same plant with minimal machining changes. Personally I see them using a power plant that already fits in the engine bay.

Also, the Raptor has proven that there is a market for such a truck. I am not sure there's enough room in the segment for both trucks to sell well, but they would definitely sell some. I think one thing that helped the Raptor is that the MSRP was actually pretty reasonable when compared to a similarly equipped FX4. If Ram could price the STX for around the same price as a loaded 4x4 they would definitely move enough to justify the cost of production and development. Also, the TRX on the lot would get potential customers in the door.

I still agree it's probably unlikely the will build the TRX, I do have a glimmer of hope because of the above mentioned reasons.

If you watch some of the videos they show the truck being built chassis up. If you were to build that truck yourself I think it would cost close to $100K. The Raptor doesn't even come close to what they built but that's not to say you couldn't do exactly the same exercise with an F150 and a big pile of cash.

Is it just me or did someone seriously drop the ball when it came to the front half-shafts ? They look mighty small in dia. I have seen ATV half-shafts that are much bigger in dia & made of CroMo !!! Just sayin'. 575 hp & shafts smaller than an atv ????

I really really like the way it looks. I wonder if those anemic front half shafts are one of the things "expected" on a concept/ show truck.... given that it likely never will be out of the hands of a factory driver...? Eh, speculative on my part:-)

I like it. I liked the Power Wagon short box concept too, never happened. They would have sold some of them for sure. Hope so. Wonder about the price. I like the hood, the air intake, the super charger, the wheels & the interior.

The Viper ACR has harnesses in it.
Good point! Does anyone know if there's a disclaimer or anything to sign for the acr acknowledging how to use the harnesses? I have 5pt harnesses in my desert truck and it's pure confusion for anyone not already familiar with them. Or maybe this thing would have standard 3pt and the 6pt as an option for off road/mall use.

It'll likely be watered down some if built, bit pretty awesome either way!

It looks more and more like Ram may actually build a TRX. Rumor of two motors now: A 7.0L V-8 and of course the 6.2L Hellcat. Why do I think this is important? Because it’s possibly an insite to a new motor for a Power Wagon. My guess is we could see the 7.0L put into a new Power Wagon. Rumors are putting the 7.0L at 550hp and above.
