Ram Rebel TRX Concept

Post by 04Ram2500Hemi » Thu Sep 29, 2016 1:58 pm

The question remains- does Ram have the balls to build this truck?
http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/limited-edi ... rebel-trx/

Supercharged 6.2-Liter HEMI® V8 Engine
With 575 horsepower, the Ram 1500 Rebel® TRX will be the most powerful factory-engineered half-ton pickup ever to be made—capable of tearing up the pavement at speeds greater than 100 mph.

Off-Road Suspension
Using a link coil rear suspension system only shared with the fastest off-road trucks in desert racing, the available 4X4 Performance Control System will allow you to gain traction over five terrain modes.

Exceptional Interior
With specially designed suede seats that cling to cloth, the distinctive six-point Racing Harness for every passenger and the paddle shifter to keep you in control, the TRX will be specially designed to keep the entire crowd planted and in comfort.

Something that would actually be a direct competitor to the raptor....

I just want a test drive and full inspection to see if it's what I want to start with. I bet it'll get better fuel economy to boot as well!

That's cool, but I can't see legal ever giving harnesses the green light. Hopefully some of the features will trickle down to a production model though!

With the undeniable success of the Raptor I could see Ram building this. I'm sure a fair amount of the cool stuff will be removed for production but with that motor and suspension package the could easily match/ beat the raptor in almost every aspect. It would be awesome to see Ram take on the Raptor head to head. For it to work I think price will have to be similar and performance will have to meet or exceed the new raptor in every way. Everyone I've talked to that has a Raptor loves the truck and Ford guys tend to be pretty loyal so Ram will have to give them a reason to jump ship. Here are a few things I see the accountants and lawyers eliminating/ changing off the concept but I sincerely hope they don't.

Tires- 37" Toyo Mt's will be swapped for 35" Toyo AT2's or BFG KM2's. (They did make a big deal about it actually having 37's tho so I hope not)

Wheels- 18" beadlocks changed to 17" faux beadlocks

Bed rack- Will become a Mopar Accessory

Rock sliders- removed completely or will be only cosmetic.

Harnesses- Mopar option, standard factory 3pt in stock form.

I think Ram has the potential to really do this right and of all the brands out there they are the most likely to keep a production unit close to the concept. What do you guys think will change if it makes it to production?

Idk about that, two sticky, there's an awful lot of effort being put into this"concept vehicle" to be just a concept.

37" tires are going to kill it. They couldn't even get 35's on the 2017 PWs as an option.
