On one of my vacation trips to the Safari Factory there was a retired couple who sold their home and bought the then top of the line Panther 425hp Cat flagship motor home. Seems that in under 3 months of full time in the RV they had spent 2 of them at the Factory in Bend Oregon. Their first trip was to spend 2 weeks at the factory as the selling dealer could not do the required repairs and offered to pay their expenses to go to Bend for the repairs. Less than two weeks after that they were back at the factory because the hose to the hydraulic fan had developed a leak at the fitting and burnt the entire back 1/4 of the coach. They were put up in a local Motel 6 while the factory rebuilt their coach as the cost to fix it vs replace it was far less than half. So the Safari factory insurance company was making them fix it. They were livid and had a lawyer working on it for them. I don't know the final outcome but I sure felt their pain and wished I could help in some way.

On one of our factory warranty trips, while out for a bike ride we saw what looked like 50 or more of the GM P72 pusher chassis sitting in a gated lot looking very weathered. When I got back I asked the factory rep about it and they said that GM had decided to no longer produce the P72 pusher chassis and was repurchased any that were not yet converted into a motor home. I should have realized then that there was a problem and they were doing damage control.

While not mine it looks just like it. I haven't seen a pusher model of the Trek on the road in years. The only difference externally is the radiator grill in the back instead of the storage compartment.

The Safari factory was in Coburg, the Beaver factory was in Bend.
Safari was founded in the 1980s by Mat Perlot and Curt Lawler, former employees of Beaver Motorcoach Corporation. The company started building diesel- and gas-powered Class A motorhomes. Safari bought Beaver in 1994 for $7.6 million after outbidding Country Coach. In 2002, Monaco Coach purchased Safari and the Beaver brand name. Beaver moved its assembling plant in 2006, but Safari was able to keep its plant in Harrisburg open. Safari also shared ownership in Beaver's Bend assembling plant, but in 2006 the Beaver plant was moved and Safari also had to vacate the plant.
My coach was a 1996 and was a Bend Oregon produced coach. The electro magic bed was what sold me on the Trek, however it was the chassis that killed our purchase!

The first time they tried selling it, it didn't have an INTERIOR!

Picked up camper today. Front window is still not fixed/replaced (under warranty). I e-mailed Starcraft---not that it will do any good. Starcraft said our new front window was on it's way, which is bullshit according to the dealer. Dealer said Starcraft would not/could not give them a tracking #, so it is NOT on it's way until they can give them a tracking #, according to our dealer's NEW service manager. He was VERY nice & could not believe how the Manufacturer's treat the customers who just bought their product. He said that's why the last guy quit. They Just can't keep people there because of all the b-shit. Today, I saw a couple giving one of the service guys "the verbal business" to put it mildly. They had a $110,000 5th wheel, which apparently has also been there all summer waiting for parts.

At least they did replace the radio with one that actually works pretty good, compared to the other one---when it was working. They also replaced the stove exhaust vent outside housing. The one that was on there would not snap shut for transport & would flappety flap while traveling. This one snaps closed nicely & stays closed while traveling.

FINALLY, the front window came in. They said they measured it this time & it is the right one. Dropped camper off yesterday. They said it shouls only take a few days. One to install it & one for the sealant to cure. Fingers crossed.

this is soo overdue. i hope the manufacturer's pay dearly for it. but the dealers are partially to blame as well for selling extended warranties and getting kick backs on loans.

REALLY, really, are you freakin kidding me ????????????????

So, get the phone call last night @ 6:00 pm (right before they close) "Your camper is all done, you can come pick it up." Great, so we go pick it up. 40 min drive one way, arrive @ 6:40 pm, they close @ 7:00 pm. Perfect. We were in a hurry, just looked from the outside. Was not happy, lots of black rv caulk specs on outside of camper by the front window they replaced. Wiped one with my finger & it came off, so no big deal as the camper needed washing anyways. So this morning I go inside & this is what I find !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image
^^^^^^^^^^THIS is on our mattress, wood, debris & a nice screw !!! :wtf:

:wtf:

So, I call this morning, using my most relaxed & calm voice. I was told: "Yeah, that is considered construction debris & is the customers responsibility." Are you freakin kidding me ? :wtf: When did this become acceptable business practice ??? Was i freakin sleeping when this happened or what ??? :wtf: I calmly told them that this was simply unacceptable. I then asked them: "What if you took your brand new vehicle, with tan leather, in for service & got it back with grease stains & debris all over your nice tan leather-----& they said "Yeah, that is considered repair debris & is the customers responsibility !!!" WOULD THAT BE ACCEPTABLE TO YOU ? Loooooooong pause, then "Sir, i am sorry about this but we don't make the rules. I then asked him "Did you ever think that this is why the last guy who had your job just quit, because he just couldn't screw people over all day, every day ?" He apologized again & then I just hung up, before I blew a cork.
