Got the War Wagon's carb setup

Post by Powerwagonmark » Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:20 am

Well guys some of you may know I purchased a 1976 Ramcharger with a custom aluminum body and full roll cage. It's got a 440 with ported heads, 727 trans with a NP203. It's got stock axles on 38.5" tires. I just put a MSD ignition system, Holley truck avaenger 770 cfm carb and a Edlebroke performer intake. I took the truck on the trail to test the carb it stalled a few times but finally got it adjusted and the truck runs awesome. Truck really needs lockers but I don't really wan't to spend the money on the stock crappy axles I would rather wait until I can find some used 1 ton axles and put 5.13 gears and lockers in those. Still need to fab some bumpers and get a winch and fab up a snorkel. It's got a 5" superlift in it but I think I may swap it out for a 8" lift so I can run some 42"s. I really love this truck I have already had three offers that were double what I paid for it but I just couldn't let it go I like it too much.

Looks like a real monster! You might check to see if the Canadian military has a DRMO (Defense Resource Management Office) lot. It's called DRMO here in the US...not sure if Can Mil has a different name. You can sometimes find things like axles, winches and similar things off of Army 2 1/2 ton trucks and the like.

That's a good idea Ken I am going to look into it. So the DRMO just sells off old equipment to raise money for new stuff????

Yep....here in the States, you check with DRMO to see when they have lot sales for surplus military equipment. They will offer things for sale to the public every so often and you just go to the sale to find the things you're looking for. Another option is to find a buddy or contact up there that is in the Canadian Armed Forces to see if he can check things out for you, or even work some kind of deal to acquire the items. I know of guys that have gotten hold of Dana 60 axles, boxes, and even entire surplus vehicles through these methods. The closest DRMO around here is in Richmond....maybe shoot pdavey a PM to see if he knows anyone down there.

Found these links....maybe a start to finding the axles you want.

This company is in Ogden, Utah. It appears they have a direct line for getting lots of mil surplus trucks and parts. Maybe some of the Winch Mob dudes out that way could look into them for you!

i miss those days when you could drive out with a suplus/overstock hummer or ht with a gun turret on the back for $1,500; yes $1,500; flat mark price of the going rate of scrap! Alot of them were scrapped and most of them were never used! Crazy!!
