On Saturday I linked up with wilsonsinak for a wheeling trip with him and some (most?) of his co-workers. We were in the Wagons, everyone else was on a SxS or four wheeler. It was a 25 mile haul out to the Knik glacier, with just enough mud and winching to make things interesting on the trail. Did a little bit of gawking at the splendor of nature, and headed back to the trailhead; almost a 10 hr round trip.

I had a couple friends riding with me, the photos in this post are by my friend Mike (https://www.instagram.com/brocious).

Shit happens when you party on the rocks!

Glad that didn't happen at speed! I wan't thrilled when I re-centered my wheel after the lift and saw how much it was threaded out... Synergy has some prototype steering kits floating around out there for our trucks that should add some strength when available. How long before the ram-assist is installed??? 8-)

In fact, this steering is bigger than what most rock bouncers and monster trucks use.

It bent like hot butter with a bad line on the Golden Crack this year. I attempted to relocate when I should have stayed put and snapped it. Take a look at this >>>
2018-05-07-08.31.24.jpg
We pulled a spare unit to get off the trail. Then modified this, sleeved it and reinstalled it to get back home. Have a new replacement.

DOR is currently the only one with a full kit for the 2014+ trucks. Synergy supposedly has a kit coming.... sometime ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And I do not know if Thuren has any plans.

So right now, I'm researching. I am told, that spot, is where it breaks for A LOT of people.

I once ran a DOR steering kit for two weeks.

Finally got around to drilling out the bolts on the skid plate/frame that Firestone fucked up when they did the fuel pump replacement.
Image

Gave up and drilled two new holes just above the old ones. :\
Image

Got it shoved under, halfway-secured....
Image

...and that's when I realized they broke three more bolts they didn't tell me about. Some more drilling/grinding/swearing...
Image

Glad I picked up some extra bolts at home depot... :( Hopefully all set for a while now.
Image

....especially since I'm playing hide-and-seek with a bad bearing in the moto engine....
Image

Think it's either head/cam (what i'm hoping for, cheap/easy) or counterweight (complete teardown/rebuild). Stator, countershaft, and everything under the clutch cover looks good.

Do the dirt bikes have the same problems the LC4’s had with the crappy Turkish cam bearings??

Hydro assist would relieve the stress on the draglink but cranking on the steering in a crack would probably just break something else.

Most of the reason mine has issues is because it's got about 30,000 miles on it
Replaced most of the bearings a few years back, one of the crank bearings got replaced 2yrs ago.
If it's a rocker/cam bearing (wouldn't be the first time i've lost one of those), that should be a real easy/inexpensive/quick fix. Anything deeper and I might as well throw in a new piston, run a hone through the cylinder, new gasket set, etc.... Image

Ran the bike out of fuel this morning, thought I killed it... forgot to refuel after yesterday's run into denver. Whoops.
Parking garages aren't Power Wagon (won't clear height) or dirt bike (sensors don't detect it) friendly.
After rolling forwards/backwards for about 5mins to find the sweet spot in the entry-gate loop, it was a weird "hold the bike up in this exact position so it detects me" and reach over to press the button on the machine that's just baaaaaarely within arm's reach so it'll shit out a ticket and open the door/gate to let me in...
....going out, I couldn't find the spot where the loop would pick me up so I could stuff the ticket into the machine. Buzzed the attendant, and apparently the mic on the kiosk was broken. "Hello, can you hear me? Hello?" ... finally gave up and just rode around the gate. :thppt:
Image

Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnndddddddddd.... on the way home last night....
Image

He didn't like my license plate. Mounted vertically (if it's horizontal, it gets ripped off in the trees, btdt), and ... well, it's a dirt bike that I ride like a dirt bike, so it's not exactly in pristine condition. I guess there's no laws broken, but being "hard to read" is grounds for a stop... whatever.
