No lights in the Locker Knob.

Post by RustyPW » Wed Jan 23, 2019 5:55 pm

About 2 weeks ago. Went to use the lockers. No lights in the locker indicator knob, or the swaybar disconnect. So I think there is no power there. Checked all the fuses. All good. Also there is no 4wheel service light. The funny thing, my low tire pressure warning light is off now. I have no sensors in my tires. So that light has been on for years. Now it's out. It went out about the same time as my lockers. I still have to check the plug behind the kick panel.

Those are some odd symptoms.
If you're looking for the #C137 locker plug/connector, it's under the dash between the parking brake assembly and where the clutch pedal would be. Image
It might be time to make use of that lifetime warranty.

Too cold and wet to look at it right now. It goes to the dealer Monday afternoon. They just got done fixing my TrailHawk. Had to replace the brake booster.

Updating this.

The lockers are fixed. Took the PW into the dealer today. They used a scanner and it couldn't communicate with the FDCM. They checked the wiring at the TIPM.. Had no power coming out. Said it was a connector there that had a bad pin. They redid the connection and now everything is working. Said if it happens again. The wiring may need replacing. Cost me $94.00 today.

Well.........this didn't last long. The lights went out again. The dealer traced the problem back to the smartbar. There is no power coming out. Dealer wants $1,200 for a new bar. Anyone has a good place to get one.

Isn't your truck covered by a lifetime warranty? If they try to tell you that the warranty is only for the drivetrain, they need to understand that the Final Drive Control Module is the sway bar and that it controls the drivetrain and is an integral part of it. :box:

Talked to the service adviser today about trying to get the smartbar covered under my lifetime powertrain warranty. No dice. He said that they tried to get it covered, but Ram said no. Reason being that the module controls the swaybar and it's mounted on the swaybar. I said the my lockers are covered under the warranty, and now they don't work without the module. So the module should be covered. He agreed with me, but got shot down by Ram. :box:

I checked on this today. This is a plain swaybar. It's not a smartbar. For a smartbar for my PW. The PN is 52121754AF. List price is $2,770. The website has it for $1809.40. There is only 5 left in the states. 4 in the warehouse and 1 at a dealership in Co.

You could add the EVO manual or air actuated swaybar disconnect and hardwire the lockers for a lot less $.

Do they know exactly the fault? Did the fuse blow again? Did they do a wire conduction test?

The fuse never blew. First time said that it it was a bad connection at the plug. The power wire was coming out and they redid it. The 2nd time, they said it module it's self is bad. Meaning the circuit board.

I’m working on building a locker bypass that will power and use the factory dash knob without a functional sway bar. If I’m successful you can return the unit you already have and I’ll retrofit it with the new wires and components required free of charge. I should know more by the end of next week.
