4WD shift light comes on while driving

I've noticed the 4WD shifting in progress light on coming on lately, usually when i'm just starting off, under 15mph or so.. might have happened at higher speed.

The OP on this thread said his was resolved by replacing the transfer case position sensor.

I have an extra one that I purchased for testing purposes listed in the classified section, if you're interested and don't have a warranty.

I had this issue once or twice. I threw it in 4w and back out. Never happened again.

A 2Lo kit will eliminate it too.

it happened again today at 50 mph... i put it in 4w for a bit, ill i see if it still does it. I have three recalls that need to be done, maybe dealer will step up. only 21k on truck

I have been having the "4wd shift in progress" light come on randomly in my 2018 power wagon. Has anybody found a long term resolution for this, my dealer is horrible at best and I don't want to leave my truck for (2)weeks to hear them say there is nothing wrong given the randomness?

This has only happened once to me, and like Zak, I found the shifter wasn't fully in position. Probably bumped. Slapping it into 4hi and then back out, never came back on again.

I suggest you new guys just switch through and back out and see if it happens again anymore.

when I first noticed the indicator message the first thing I did was check the transfer case position, then I moved it to 4hi waiting for the 4wd lock then moved back to 2hi. a couple minutes later message came back up. moving the transfer case selector takes some effort so I cant see how rough city roads could make it jump.

I have this issue. Kept taking to dealer, they kept updating/reflash SW, tried shifting into and out of 4 Hi and Lo, it finally stopped for a few months. Came back from trip and it stated again. I give up. Maybe replace a sensor or 2 and see what happens when I have the time.

Around here, there ain't a Dodge dealer worth their weight in gold. The bastards.

My 16 did it going 70 mph down the freeway and other random times.

Don't let them give you the "no code, can't reproduce" thing and tell them to just change out the TCPS.

The switch is a common problem.

Not offhand. I took all of the service papers out when I traded the truck in Va and left them at my place in WV. I'll look when I get back there and see if I can find a part #.
