Not a PW owner ... YET!
Hey folks,
I'm not yet a Power Wagon owner, but I have been lusting over these trucks for years now. The time for me to pick one up may be soon, and I am coming here for some thoughts/advice.
I currently own a 2015 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 that I've really liked, but it has been sitting at my dealer for the last month waiting for a warranty part (<$100) that the Chrysler supply chain is apparently constrained on. After being informed that my current ETA for this part got pushed another 2 weeks into March, I am now wondering if I can alternatively work out a decent trade-in deal on my truck for a Power Wagon.
My dealer has a new 2018 PW in Mojave Sand with some decent incentives on, but I am pretty interested in the new 2019 offerings.
Is there any speculation when the 2019s will start showing up on lots? Is there something that I am missing about the 2018 year that might make it somehow 'better' than the 2019s? From my perspective the 2018s obviously have the benefit of being a design that's been produced for a few years, but I do like the interior updates and 8-speed of the 2019s.
Thoughts?

Welcome to the Power Wagon Registry.
The new 8spd and interior is really tempting for a lot of us. I haven’t seen enough for me to upgrade my 2012, but if I was buying new today it would be the 2019. That said, I have no idea when the 19’s will hit showroom floors. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Welcome to the forum. The only thing that turns my crank is the 8 speed tranny.

Re: Not a PW owner ... YET!
You can go to a dealer and "order/configure" the 2019's now and get pricing but my local dealer said orders won't go in until maybe April, with possible delivery in July?? I did see someone on the Forum has ordered a Tradesman version already.
I stopped by my local dealer last week; he did a configuration for a completely loaded 2019 with almost all available options (I don't need or want the expensive Bose sound or "safety" package but check about all other boxes). Total MSRP was $69,585, "invoice" $64,620, and Family/Friends price $64,049. (I can get a FFP # from a cousin that works on Jeeps)
The 8 speed transmission is supposed to make the truck feel more responsive.
The 360-degree surround view cameras, 12-inch Uconnect display, adaptive cruise, and heated 2nd row seats are pretty cool.
I wish it had the larger cab and panoramic sun-roof that is available in the 1500's.

Yeah I guess the biggest appeal to the 2018s currently is that you can probably get a pretty decent deal on one. It looks like you can potentially take almost $10k off of a 2018 right now.

Re: Not a PW owner ... YET!
You can almost always get about $10k off MSRP on a Power Wagon, including in 2014 when the 6.4L and suspension changes came out, and 2017 when the appearance got a popular makeover. I don’t see the 2019s being any different with a cosmetic overhaul and new transmission.hitechredneck wrote:Yeah I guess the biggest appeal to the 2018s currently is that you can probably get a pretty decent deal on one. I’m sure there will be some very good deals to be had on 2018s left sitting on dealer lots, but 2019s won’t be going for MSRP.

Good call, I guess I was just thinking since they are being advertised like that I assume there is even more room for negotiation once they get you in the door. But yeah, I see what you mean that you can always snag a good deal on the prev years.Low_Sky wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 10:00 amYou can almost always get about $10k off MSRP on a Power Wagon, including in 2014 when the 6.4L and suspension changes came out, and 2017 when the appearance got a popular makeover. Re: Not a PW owner ... YET!
You should be able to go to any dealership and order one right now. I ordered the “Tradewagon” on 2/12 and it will start rolling down the line next Monday, 3/11. Apparently the new HDs have started slowly showing up at dealerships, but sparsely at best. I heard that in April the inventory to the dealers will speed up.

Say it with me now, “I ordered my Power Wagon...”.benking wrote:I ordered the “Tradewagon”
The running gear is what makes a Power Wagon what it is. The trim level of the cab sitting on top of it is irrelevant.
The mouth breathers who think trucks are defined by what stickers get put on them can keep that real/fake is/isn’t stuff on the other forums. Here we know what makes a Power Wagon is bolted to the chassis before they drop the cab on it in Mexico.

Couldn’t agree more. And vinyl floors! That should just be the way it is on a truck like this!!!! Glad to have a work truck that is going to get filthy on a regular basis, maybe even dinged up from time to time! Hopefully not, but probably so!

My dealer even verified the 2019 is made stateside now. He should me the dealer notice they get when they stopped all orders for 2018s and gave a aprox date for dealers to order the new hd trucks
